Awesome.

Remember when Black Bolt use to have other powers besides his voice? 🙁 Badass showing for Thanos still.

Also, I'll let Rage find out about how Thor feels about kneeling... he should like it

I'm pretty sure Rage and Quanchi are masturbating themselves to this issue.

I had my lotion and paper towels set aside for today but the scream fail killed my boner.

😆

BB got punked out pretty bad. Thanos was pretty much unaffected by everything BB threw at him.

Yes, we all know Thanos is durable but BBs multiple screams should have done more damage to him and levelled New York city at the very least.

I expected Thanos to tank the first and second scream. I didn't expect him to easily tank the point blank scream in the face. lol

Damn it... Welp, there goes that...

Somehow that made Vulcan and Adam Warlock a bunch of weaklings ermm

Already bleeding after the first scream?

Heh. Apoc would rape that purple turtle so bad.

Marv Wolfman is rolling over in his [future] grave...

Still, tanking herald attacks like they're Cheeze Whiz is kinda Thanos's thing. There seems to be a "what have you done lately" mentality with feats sometimes, that everyone is happy to ignore something that happened a decade ago (or more) even if it's still canon.

It's why I furrow my brow when some cool one-off feat sends people into a fury claiming the character is now HH or higher, when dozens of characters have equivalent or better feats pock-marked throughout canon. And why I'm confused now that people are upset that BB - a perpetual mid herald with a few awesome showings - just got no-sold by a guy who has no-sold and/or tanked way worse. If you wanted the scream to work better, fine. But if you're shocked that it didn't, you haven't been paying attention.

Compared to Thanos? Yeah, absolutely. We're talking about at least an order of magnitude greater compared to either of them. A mid herald using his best attack should decimate other low-to-mid herald. And it should probably harm but ultimately not put down a Trans. being, especially one whose primary attribute is durability.

👆

If you look at the history of Thanos, he's tanked things far more powerful than BB's scream without much trouble. Him easily tanking BB's scream shouldn't be a surprise at all.

I said a long time ago he was going to tank it. Why wouldn't he be able to withstand BB scream? This is Thanos we are talking about here.

At least we agree that Thanos's main attribute is not intelligence 😈

I consider Black Bolt a Mid-High Herald with his scream being a weapon beyond Herald level.

It was potentially fatal to Doom with the power of Galactus, the threat of it was enough to scare the shit out of a being who collected Galaxies, it overpowered that Watcher IIRC and so on.

Thanos practically no-selling it at point blank range is pretty ridiculous but this was inevitable. I called something like this happening 6 years ago. The moment the voice was treated as his only weapon, it was very likely it would go down a peg. It's obviously still ridiculously powerful but a whisper would most likely be enough to take out a High Herald. Nowadays I wouldn't be surprised if one of the big boys tanked it.

And it's not only about feats. The power of his voice and his reluctance to use it added a unique and formidable gravitas to Black Bolt. Anyways, this is just my opinion.

Hmmm I dont know about that. I dont think Thanos has had a better durability showing to be honest. BBs scream used to be a pretty fearsome thing. It powered the bomb that tore a hole in the Universe and let the many angled ones out, Reed used a constant whisper to tear a whole in reality etc. Thanos has taken some shots from Odin pretty well but pretty much all the other big stuff you might bring up - being blasted by The Beyonder/Maker, Galactus either messed him up badly or forced him to yield quick smart.

I bet it was BB being replaced by yet another skrull 😖hifty:

His fights with Odin and Tyrant are, of themselves, ridiculously more impressive than the BB scream. Gungnir >>>>>> BB Scream. Or no-selling the blast from a Cosmic Cube in a Guardians book from maybe 5-7 years ago. And that's just scraping the top of the barrel. His entire history includes far more.

I agree entirely with your comments on BB. Gravitas of not using it, the unfortunate fact that they've turned him into a one-hit wonder with the voice attack, etc. But it doesn't change my opinion of the feat, which went about as expected.

Funny you mention that, because BB did recently knockout an alternate Terrax with a whisper pretty easily. And it's not like this alternate Terrax was a weakling either, he was holding his own against the Illuminati until BB decided to whisper in his face. If BB can do that, his voice still seems pretty damn powerful. This is all under the same writer too (Hickman).

But given the dire situation BB was in, and who he was facing, why wouldn't he spam his most powerful attack against Thanos? It seemed like a pretty desperate situation.
