Character Ownage

Unless you care about power levels, Ellis' Starbrand is a lot more interesting than ultimate power source is. Though that's no knock on the original since it was Gruenwald who made the Starbrand just a boring power source and made a terrible crossover about it.

The ****ing event was even called Starblast.

But who do I think I'm even speaking about here? All zopzop cares about is power levels.

Ellis' work on Starbrand >>>>> Gruenwald's work.

Told him a dozen times before.

Ellis' stuff wasn't really concluded though...

What he did though was way more interesting than anything Gruenwald did though.

Both of them diverted from the original. Gruenwald went into the omnipotent grounds and Ellis' stayed around the same with an actual backstory. And I don't know how Gruenwald managed to make something by Jim "Beyonder" Shooter over the top but he did it.

Ellis' work lead directly to Hickman's take on the NU and look at the clusterphuck that resulted. Yeah, Ellis was a real genius. 🙄

How does Ellis' take have anything to do with Starbrand blowing up a Beyonder? That's like shitting on Stan Lee for Thor taking on the Beyonders. And what does that have to do with the quality of work?

Shouldn't you be happy too considering you think Starbrand should be LT level? Well there you go, and you still complain.

But seriously, championing Gruenwald's Starbrand while shitting on Ellis' doesn't work considering Ellis made a way better story. When the only point you actually have is power levels then you should probably shut up. Especially when Ellis didn't exactly talk about that in depth or really at all.

Go actually read everything Ellis wrote about it. You might actually enjoy it if you look past the fact that universes aren't imploding because a character flexed.

Ellis is bad because his work was open to abuse?...

He didn't even get to finish the phucking comic.

I read Ellis' work, right after you made me aware of it. I was actually excited at first because it was NU related and I'd never heard of it before. It was shit.

Hickman picked up the ball of shit and ran with it. He had almost 3 years to flesh out the NU characters and nothing came of it. Then right at the end, Starbrand goes out like a ***** while Abyss/Ex/Thor/Hyperion went out like champs.

And how is Hickman's Starbrand LT level? A crippled, Mjolnirless Thor and Hyperion faced off vs HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of Beyonders. Starbrand died fighting ONE. 🙄

Yes, it was cancelled because it was garbage.

Do you remember what the plot of it was?

Thor and Hyperion couldn't do anything to a Beyonder. Starbrand killed one. They only faced off against that many because other people killed them. I don't even understand how you can think that's logical tbh.
It's purely delusion.

It was cancelled because of sales. That's like saying I, Vampire was garbage too. 😂

I forgot how deeply rooted in hate your reasons were. For Gruenwald's Starbrand too. 😂
That's like hating every Luke Cage but Bendis'.

Well this was a waste of time. Also not the place. Comics aren't good unless someone is the most powerful thing around.

Last post on the subject, but Quasar was cancelled shortly after the Starblast crossover that was purely a publicity stunt to try and get more sales.
Quasar last for years until Starbrand gets used and gets his series cancelled.

So Starbrand was face to face with the Beyonder that killed him?

Zatanna tanked a sucker punch from WW; not sure what the obsession with facing punches is...

Wrong thread.

First they took Mjolnir from the, Blonde whore, then they took his life!

The House of El thanks you Marvel for the MANY gifts you have given us!

Darkseid is a phucking monster in DCnU.

Alan is channeling the power from every earth in Multiverse and Darkseid still pushed his shit in.

osheet

Maybe? Seems like the planet dying part kinda sapped him as well. I don't mean to take anything away from DS, who's been a boss in this encounter. But the Earth death may actually be the more relevant aspect of that.

Maybe. But Alan flat out tells that even with all that power he can't win against Darkseid.

Alan also has all the other Parliaments as well. Not just the green. Incredible.

For those nerds who like this sorta thing:

Well, E2 is dying so not surprised the Parliaments are not that great - channeling multi-Earth Greens is uber, though.

Not to mention, Darkseid's eye seems OK again. So a bloodlusted Kara attacking his eyes did nothing but annoy him for a few seconds/minutes. Damn.
