That's a reason but not a good one imo.
Popularity and importance always get in the way of exploring plots. Characters like Batman won't die because they are emblematic and sell books, they won't suffer permanent status quo changes either for the very same reason. So whether we like it or not, it's a valid reason for many.

It has been a valid point does not mean it needs to stay that way or that it was a good reason to ever begin with.

Simple question to this. Why should Superman never play second fiddle to Wonder Woman?
Originally posted by abhilegendSo basically status quo and you don't want Superman to play second fiddle.
Because it's not a character trait since his first comic? He is the top gun whenever he is present and that's just too deeply ingrained in public subconscious to displace. There is a reason it's called "This looks like a job for Superman" and not "This looks like a job for Wonder Woman".
Like I said that is a reason but not a good one imo.

I made this particular argument because we shouldn't pretend Superman can be separated from the fictional genre he represents. We shouldn't mistake "comic Superman" with "any fiction Superman".
This doesn't mean there aren't valid points for Superman being like he is. Technically speaking a character should be able to appear in any kind of fiction and have infinite variety, but at the same time, characters staying in their core concept also makes them richer and gives sense to the fiction in which they participate. This is both a valid point and a good point.
Edit: Eh, I just saw Pr's message, so I want to abide with his ruling (despite appearances he's still a mod biscuits), if I have another comment like this I'll send it by PM.
