Hey, I can only speculate but I would say it is an Avatar of Darkseid. All New Gods have avatars in differen't Universes. The Avatar of Kalibak died in Injustice while the Kalibak in the DCnU still lives. The only thing hinting at Darkseid in the DCnU being not an Avatar is the fact that he destroyed Universes prior to his fight with Anti-Monitor.

Injustice might play in the past compared to the current continuity, which might be the only explanation why the Avatar is still there while Darkseid is dead.

Apparently only the AM Universe was destroyed this way, since it is a special Universe as we can see this doesn't take away anything from his Multiversal power, on the contrary. He needed yet another Universe or Universes to consume before facing Darkseid. AM has always been Multiversal and the Anti Matter Universe was also still there when everyone and their mother thought that, after CotIE, there was only one Universe, not only that but the AMU grows with the death of other Universes.

Here BatGod and GL are in the AM Universe and explain that it's differen't.

I know you don't want to believe that DS and AM can destroy Universes by themselves, even if we have it black and white stated that Darkseid did it, and even if someone like Superboy Prime was able do destroy Universe 15, damage the structure of spacetime irreparably which left only a fragment of said universe somewhere hidden in the Multiverse. But to each his own.

As Darkseid was going to different universes and absorbing Earth's for the battle as mentioned in Earth-2.

Story-wise it would make sense them focusing on the planet as from what we have seen (excluding Constatatine) they never demonstrated universe busting/abosrbing feats on their own and Darkseid has a deal with Highfather he can't attack the universe other then absorbing Earth. Superman in Forever Evil mentioned the only being that had the power to destroy a world was Darkseid. Then they show AM on Earth 3, but Superman didn't know it was AM that did it and Grail never said he absorbed the entire universe in Forever Evil, just absorbed all he could in the universe

Issues with constituency of course, but DC is known for that.

Have to remember Metron did say AM has destroyed universes though at the start of darkseid war. Some serious consistency issues

Anti-matter isn't the same as the ALE. It was pretty specific. It wasn't until he actually used the ALE that Darkseid was hurt and it was meant to be a surprise attack.

The whole point of him summoning the Black Racer was because he was getting desperate apparently. If he was comfortably winning I don't think he'd do that.

And no, I don't think it should count when you use outside forces. Anti-Monitor's win wasn't legit either. They both used Death to win.

I disagree. Darkseid hit AM with a 3 hit combo (punched him, OB then BR.) It seems to me that Johns wanted to portray Darkseid as capable of beating the AM, who had to resort to weakness exploitation to win.

And considering the way they used Death, I do count it. You're free to feel differently, of course.

I'm also not clear why everyone is getting so hung up on that one panel. It also seems pretty evident that Batman is talking specifically about Earth 3. He's not saying that's ALL the AM did.

At the end of the event, it's probably gonna be revealed that anti-monitor was fighting his avatar and he let his avatar die so that the league (since they're the only ones that ever managed to push him back) could deal with the anti-monitor. It's probably gonna end with darkseid having a monolog about how all of his enemies have weakened themselves fighting each other and how the time to strike is quickly approaching.
