He survived SW and entered main universe in Ultimates. Maybe you should read the comic. Its explicitly explained that he came to take the cosmic cube.
Contend with him? They ****stomped him even when he had prep and some of his tech with him. He didn't even get to punch anyone.
This is not a preview. This is a whole comic which sets Civil War up.
Lulz at the damage control though.
Agree. Theres no "wait and see guys!" here. Thanos got wrecked by a bunch of angry B-listers. Much like he did the last time Bendis wrote him and Cap knocked his teeeth out of his head etc. Thats it.

We don't even know why he's there. We don't even know how he survived SW. We don't even know if it's a clone. And if it is him, is it lower compared to his recent showings? Yeah somewhat. I guess. Still needed a powerful team to even contend with him. It's not like it erases his history.
This is my last comment on this. It's just funny how much froth you can accumulate from a damn preview.. Smh..
He wanted to gather a cosmic cube that was stored at that building
Everyone was basically resurrected and returned to normal at the end of secret wars. Strange is alive. Cyclops was brought back but killed off-panel later (yeeeeah)
Not a preview

Granted this is not as big or powerful a team that they usually put against him, but they're not exactly all pushovers.
Not sure where you're getting that he didn't punch anyone. Didn't he cause a possible death of 2 heroes?
We must be reading something totally different.

Just read it. Still doesn't explain what the story is about other than cc business.Granted this is not as big or powerful a team that they usually put against him, but they're exactly all pushovers.

Correction, he cheapshots Rhodey and has Rhodey fire a missile at Jen.
Way to go Thanos. You can beat War Machine!!!!

Technically war machine caused the potentially death of one character and when he was focused on Jennifer Thanos attacked him.
I think this kinda shows once again that Bendis just should not be allowed to write Thanos.
Power levels or whatnot aside, Bendis always seems to have him stuck as the Saturday morning cartoon villain he hasn't been in ages.
Also what editor lets Bendis use Thanos as the chump who gets ambushed by the heroes just to set up the whole future predicting conceit of Civil War. I mean he's pretty much one of Marvel's top villains and yet this was just sad to read.

Someone needs to balance the wanking Starlin has done for more than thirty years now.
👆
Meh, sure Starlin loves Thanos more than his own children or whatnot but at least his wanky Thanos has had some interesting stories. Even if he has a tendency to repeat the same ideas.
The same cannot be said for whenever Bendis has written Thanos. He's one of those characters Bendis just doesn't seem to know how to use or what he even talks like etc. See also: Black Panther in that same Civil War 2 preview. Everyone is focused on the Thanos thing but T'challa talking about throwing up in his mask because Carol and Rhodey kissed was pretty terrible.

(Edit. Or ignore completely. Since Marvel these days allows their writers to write everything as they please, without referencing or recognizing the work of the others at all.)

It's like Marvel and DC are officially giving the long time readers the middle finger so they can focus on the younger kids with the shorter attention spans. Thus they don't have to work as hard remembering shit that was written before 😂
