Ultimately Rita just went 'full-meta'. She shattered the 4th wall and realized that she is just a character/narrative within a comic book, and that 'death' doesn't hold any real meaning at all when you're larger than the page.

I had to read these issues a number of times before I started wrapping my head around the underlying context/metaphors and such. They were a real mind-f*ck that I thoroughly enjoyed. 👆
