It's like Guy Gardner bashing.

Guy's thing is the machismo and getting away with it. To "put him in his place" is to pander to the crowd that wants to see him get his cumumpance.

Walker is the same way, he's the bully who DOESN'T get karmic backlash.

You're supposed to hate him for flaunting it or love him for owning it.

Walker has always been a bit of a stooge though. Extreme nationalist, corporate shill, military bot, add that with his mental instability and you have an easily punchable face draped in the American flag. He's been like that since the beginning, the writer is just refreshing it (albeit heavy-handily)

Then the ricochet line, and "I need him to see what a man without fear can do"

They are very poorly trained, then, always getting themselves banished, murdered or cancelled.
