i think it's amping him, from what i know i don't think that nova can create oxygen on mars or any other planet. and the way that he disposed of valkyrie...
i think that the crown reacts in a special way with the existing power set of nova because the archon said that the crown has new power fom nova
and earlier he said that the wearer of the crown can channel the power of the dark children

I just picked up the issue. The crown used Nova's power. The Archon explicitly stated so. But it does allow it's wearer access to it's powers as well.

It was pretty clear to me that Nova was being amped by the Crown. Nova being as powerful as he was on his own however was too much for the Guardian to handle with the combined power of the Crown.

The Archon had defeated a crown wearer before. He flew at Nova confident that he could do it again but got flat laid out. He then said, "It's different this time. It has new power from your brother."
