If Superman can be hurt through the use of knite, why does it become a technicality?? I can say physically, Hulk trumps Superman, but since the Hulk isn't as fast as Clark, does Supermans victory lose meat since a lack of speed is one of Hulks weaknesses?? Nah, because its legitimate.
If Metallo beats Clark because of green matter, he still beats him. Just cause you might not like the circumstances is not a good enough reason to be bitter.
And for the record, Superman doesn't beat any skyfather. i doubt if he can even be a good match for current Ares while sunkissed.

The blast may travel at the speed of light but the surfer himself would be
moving well beyond that.
and surfer getting hit by those guys is normal in comics because if he were use his speed all the time no one would even hit him just like the flash.

I would advise Superman to learn how to defeat a normal human being first - Batman, Lex Luthor - before he goes and challenges a Skyfather. 😉

I don't think either has ever really beaten him in the long term. Luthor has died, ended up in cloned bodies, been put in prison, lost his fortune etc numerous times and as for bats the magic ring doesn't work very well these days. One burst of heat vision and really that would be it - but Supes is moral.
Most Skyfathers are near omniscient so they could just calculate plans on the spot, and a couple more for backup, along with what their capable of doing, they could use their large range of powers very efficiently to lay waste to someone like Superman e.g. a magical barrier around them, with anyone coming into proximity of it getting zapped.
