As you can see, this is quite a list, and this list as you may notice, doesn't contain all the different versions of characters... I say SF has more characters spanning their games...

but can fighters from the streetfighter movie take on the ones from the mortalkombat movie ?

Actually that's an interesting point, as what exactly happens is open to interpretation, but since it is what his technique is said to do, and the opponents do have to empty their mind, etc. We can still conclude that it targets the soul and is a very damaging attack.

I still fail to see how this "god is just a term" copout negates what raiden has done and what he has the power to do (which is FAR outside the realm of anyhing ANY street fighters have proven capable of.)

Here we are Jinzin, A description of what happens during the Raging Demon, This exerpt was taken from the SF Plot Guide, but it coicides with what I read on All About Capcom and Street Fighter Eternal.

What happens during the shungokusatsu is that they go to hell. The demons in hell will attack the person even if they're sin free or not. They're demons, they'll go at anything. But with evil characters, their past sins will also haunt on top of the demons attacking them for that split second. Gen survives this because he empties his spirit, heart and
mind. "Onore wo mu ni suru". "Mu" means emptiness, nothingness. One of thereasons why Gouken has the kanji "Mu" on his back. It's really not about how strong the person is but how tuned and focused they are with their mind and soul.

However, Despite this, MK does have Gods, and due to this, they may actually win unless they have that limiter put in.

Otherwise, MK's street levelers are the only ones to lose.
