I went and saw Hostel today- and there were so many people that said this movie was going to be sick and scary and gorey and scary...blah blah... it was so boring... all the guys were typical American Pie horney guys and the girls were idiots.

the gore was stupid, and it just wasnt scary at all... I want my money back 🙁

You went in with your hopes TOO high, I was disappointed by the whole horny guys n' girls, but I came in to the movie theatre thinking this was gonna be a terrible movie, but I was impressed. I just thought that the gorey parts were hillarious. Poor innocent ladies getting splattered with blood, me and my dad were laughing, it was great!

Hostel's sicker than Saw 1 and 2 combined.

Good story too. I liked it.

It may be gorier than "Final Destination 2"; The goriest film of all time in my opinion but this Feb., Final Destination 3 might cut "Hostel" down in that department.

🙂 I'm so glad somebody else liked it! Yeah, I liked the story, other than all the sex. I think Hostel was pretty good too. 🙂

Most definitely. The story was really good. It made me think that that stuff like that really does goes on, in those desperate countries like those secret clubs or if not, it can happen.

There was a movie with a similar concept that came out in the 90's with Ice-T, but I forget what the name of the movie was where he was being hunted by humans as sport, like as a hobby.

But "Hostel" just had the gore in it. I'd watch it again. But look out for "Final Destination 3" this Feb.

I think all horror movies have cheese in 'em, but I'm talking about just the gory parts only. And that's where "F.D." owns/ed...

Does it really need a sequel? there is going to be a Hostel 2 now...

Since I haven't seen this movie yet, can anyone compare it to something like Saw? B/c I really liked Saw... I thought it was really suspenseful but this kinda looks sick... since the entire movie is based on torture. 😘

Yeah, those Final Destination movies are hilarious, not scary. Good fun though.

See a real gore flick sometime, will ya's? Some kid being totally annihilated by a pane of glass is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen.

Storyline was decent, once there actually was one, which was 1/2 way through the movie, when I hated the characters too much to give a shit anymore.

"Surviving the Game"

I saw Hostel tonight, and i gotta say, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, in fact, I thought it was pretty solid for what it was. A campy, gorey horror movie that had a huge heart but not enough talent from Eli Roth to fulfill the desires I'm sure he had in his head.

This movie, much like Cabin Fever, had an awkward use of humor. There were some moments where the humor just didn't flow, and took me out of the horror at key moments. I liked how he had the beginning of the movie very light hearted, in theory. But again, the execution didn't do the idea justice. It dove into horror too suddenly, and since I know he was trying to do an Audition style progression into horror, which was very slow and gradual, it just didn't click.

The gore was pretty solid aside from the eyball thing, which was just silly and looked overly fake. Though, much of the gore was a novelty, done just for the sake of having 'gross stuff'. It was a full theater when I went, lots of teens, and they all laughed and got a kick out of the gore, which shows that it wasn't great use of violence, especially when the goal of the film was to be disturbing and visceral, not a light hearted Final Destination type movie that used the violence for shits and giggles.

I'd say it was a decent horror movie, but not at all the horrific disturbing experience that the advertisements make it out to be. Eli Roth's heart was in the right place, and it was an improvement over Cabin Fever, and I think the guy does have some promise. He's a guy who loves horror films, it's obvious from watching the film, and I think at some point he may realize his full potential. But the most important thing for him is to learn how and when to use humor, so it doesn't take the viewer out of the dark atmosphere.

gorey? really you thought it was gorey? ... it just wasnt what I was expecting I guess

Yeah, it was pretty gory. Lots of blood and what not.

i must have been sleeping cause I didnt see that much gore or blood or screaming or weirdness...

That only goes to show that the movie (like most horror movies) shouldn't be tooken too seriously. I thought it was nice campy fun. I like the over-exaggerated death scenes and found them enjoyable and entertaining.

I didnt care much for this film.. I liked the idea.. (maybe a different dude can pick it up and run with it instead, if there were another outing).. but the flow was wack.. and it wasnt disturbing at all.. my friend was intrigued by the torture aspect.. which I honestly think they didnt try to work much on either...

quentin probably endorsed the film for its 'revenge' aspect.. he seems to like that sortof thing

I agree Backfire, it had a solid story that most horror movies lack because they focus more on gore and scaring people.

Hostel is the only Horror movie to make me believe that that type of stuff can really goes on. Unlike many horror movies.

Like I'd believe something like the story in Hostel can and could be happened. That's what made it horrific for me, if anything. I bet even crazier things like that place and even sicker organizations exists that are even worse than that Hunter's Club or what ever the name of that organization was.

And for the 1st time, i'd give Jay Hernandez a thumbs up on his performance. I didn't think he had it in him like that.

I didn't take this movie seriously, and I enjoyed it. I thought it was gonna be another pile of sh*t like every other horror movie that has came out lately, but overall I liked it. I Liked It! So if you were expecting a lot out of this movie, you shouldn't have. Jesus, haven't you realized that most of the newer horror movies are all stupid lately?

Couldn't agree more.

I just saw this movie about two weeks ago and joined here like a week ago, so did anyone else seen this movie. Because I can say this movie has more gore then Saw, & Saw 2 and this movie is based on torture, just like FearDotCom ( Another great movie. )

Anyone wants any more information on both movies, here’s the links.
