This movie doesnt even deserve the Horror forum. It had potential but it took ages until we really got some piece of some action. The only decent thing it had was the prosthetics, but you dont build movies around prosthetics.

Another thing that pisses me off is Eli Roth's lack of confidence. In Cabin Fever he asked Peter Jackson to help him out. Now in this one he asked Tarantino. Its unfair to see the DVD or the movie poster at the theatre with those names on it, simply to generate revenue and then be regaled with that bullshit.

From watching the director commentary with Roth and Tarantino, from what I understand, they were chillin' by Quentin's pool and talking about what films they want to make. QT was like, "Dude, you gotta make that horror film. I wouldn't even go see that other shit." Then he helped him make it. Something like that.

You didnt, but if the general public see these, what is the first name that hits ?

Well, I didn't like Cabin Fever either

I read something similar on the Newspaper today, that said QT's appearance is not merely a sales tag. It says QT did "make a contribution" and "the profuse gore is similar to that of the Asian Horror films he likes so much".

Apparently I was wrong about QT. 😕

Oh come on! What male in his late teens/early 20's isn't a complete horndog!? Plus, those parts are only during the beginning people!!!!! If people paid more attention to the actual horror in the movie, they'd appreciate it a lot more.

Yeah, well, if I want to watch a porno, I'll rent a porno. A half hour - forty minutes is way too long for pure sex scenes. They could have them, sure, but let's see some killing intertwined in it.

yeah, well the middle-ending makes up for all the pornography at the beginning. Geez guys, be a little more optimistic, and appreciate the HORROR in this movie!

The horror of it wasn't much though. Sure, it was cool seeing the guy's fingers get sawed off. But when he was cutting off the toe, the scene I'm sure most, if not all, were waiting for, was edited exactly like the preview. You see nothing cut off.

I saw this at the cinema and i thought it was a good film. It really made you think, cos i couldnt get to sleep afterward and not because of the horror part cos there wasn't much of it but for the fact of trusting people when on holidays. When you go into a hotel, you put all your trust in the place cos thats what you expect! when they ask you for your passport to store in their safe, the majority of people give it, even though you wouldn't hand your passport to a random stranger in the street!

I meant that I'm tired of horror movies with characters that you want to kill yourself for being so worthless! And yes, both of those descriptions fit that category.

well my dear, some people aren't ready for those extremes 🙂

I didn't think hostel was anything special.

This has to be one of THE most overhyped movies I have ever seen in my 26 years alive. This flick is a renter, at best. The was SO much potential gone to waste, and the gore/violence wasnt all that special, either, IMO.

exactly

grrrrrrrrr, well I liked it dammit!

After finding 'Saw II' to be a piece of utter shit, I thought I'd give one last chance to the goreography genre by watching this...

Cabin Fever was great, but this was crap. While I was watching it, I kept thinking what is the point to all this ugliness. The answer is...there is no point apart from gore gratification. A waste of time and a waste of life.
