What about defactos? Relationships just as long lasting and strong as any one married. How long do they have to be together in a platonic, loving relationship before they can express it? 20 years? Or would even that not be enough as they haven't "been married"?

50% of married couple get divorced anyway...at least in the US. Marriage means nothing.
