I don't believe the Bible said you go to hell if you commit suicide.

So far as we can tell from Scripture, the present hell, is somewhere in the heart of the earth itself. It is also called 'the pit' (Isa. 14:9, 15: Ezek. 32:18-21) and 'the abyss' (Rev. 9:2). . .
The writers certainly themselves believed hell to be real and geographically 'beneath' the earth's surface. . .
To say this is not scientific is to assume science knows much more about the earth's interior than is actually the case. The great 'pit' [hell] would only need to be about 100 miles or less in diameter to contain, with much room to spare, all the forty billion or so people who have ever lived, assuming their 'spiritual' bodies are the same size as their physical bodies."

Now do we really believe the this "Hell" is in the middle of the Earth??

The Bible says if you sin, you go to hell. It also says that suicide is a sin. So yeas, if you commit suicide you go to hell.

your defenetly going to hell... and i just cant understand suicidal ppl
enjoy life while you can. its not very long.

Well if you are referring to the "Do not commit Murder", then sure, so better quit eating all that red artery clogging meat, and useless carbs. Also you may not want to drive a car or fly on a plane, cause then you are temping god. Lets not temp god.

what do you think...if you believe in heaven and you are "saved" and you commit suicide do you think you would go to heaven or would you be sent to hell.

Although it's technically murder, and murder is probably something you'd go to hell for, people who commit suicide usually are mentally...messed up...so they really can't be held responsible because they're not in their right mind. But I don't want to try and play God, so I don't know.

if religion tell us that suicide is a sin ,and person commet suicide he surely dont belive in his religion and the punishment for this crime .

Did the Bible actually say "thou shalt not kill thyself"?

To my knowledge a lot of the current belief on suicide and damnation can be followed back to St Augustine who wrote a great deal, some of which was against the cultural and moral values of the Roman empire.

One such example he dealt with was Lucretia. Now she is the women of remarkable virtue who after being raped by Sextus Tarquinius, the king. She called her family to her afterwards and advised them to avenge her, then killed herself (despite the fact her family told her it wasn't her fault.) Now the Romans didn't actually see suicide as a "sin" or really a crime (in fact the word suicide, derived from Latin, was a late addition to the language.) Prior to that they believed it was a valid option for a person if the need called for it, and not a bad thing. In fact much like the Japanese and Chinese (and others) the concept of suicide had potentially honorable connotations (the word suicide though carries negative ones.)

However of course this wouldn't stand in Christian tradition, hence the move against such things doctrinally and otherwise. With St Augustine he made saw it was implied that nothing a person did or had done to them justified suicide (though failing to look deeply at those Christians who let themselves be martyred despite having the option to escape such a fate.) This could be due to belief on the subject - or maybe even a means of winning followers. A person considering suicide might be in a deep despair of thinking they had to to maintain honor - the Christian Church however said don't do it, come to us and through Jesus whatever happened to you will be washed away.

After all, one doesn't want potential converts killing themselves.

How do you know that?

In my opinion there is a better chance that hell does not exist then it is invisible.
