And how would you know this? The inquisitions were far more worse...How being skinned alive, boiled alive in oil, having you family tortured in front of you, having your babies bashed against the wall until dead before your eyes, being drawn and quartered, having your intestines connected to a wheel and slowly pulled out of you, having the dead tied to your back rotting until you start to rot also...etc, etc, etc.....
OR! maybe maybe god is trying to let the people know how much jesus christ suffered. Holocaust for example. all those jews tortured jus becuz of wut the Nazi's thought of them.

what does the holocaust have to do with jesus? and what makes u think that god is TRYING to tell us anything? he sure hasnt told me.

you know what, u dont sound all that sure of what ur sayin urself. that large OR, and "maybe, maybe" twice tells me that ur just TRYING desperately to tell urself that in reality.

Okay, there's a lot for me to say about this thread. It's true that most Christians focus on Christ's death, but in my religion, we focus on the atonement and ressurection. Also, it's true that crucifiction is not the worst thing that can happen, but also remember that Jesus bled from every pore. And also think about it from God's point of view. This was God's only begotten son, but he let him die so we could be ressurected. That seems like a pretty big deal to me. And remember that Jesus had the power to kill the people who were crucifying him, but he LET himself die. It's not so much a suffering for all the sufferings of mankind, but more of a way for us to be ressurected when we die. But there is a sin side to it. Before the atonement, people had to sacrifice animals for their sins and to renew their covenants. Now, all we have to do is take the sacrament, which represents the blood and body of Jesus Christ. Anyway, I hope that clears up any misunderstandings about the crucifiction of Christ. I realize this post has been very unstructured, but I hope you still understand it and take it seriously.

yes but theres no evidence to suggest that apoc001

Well...Besides the fact that none of that post made any sense, I think we have already got too many God Disbelieving threads.

Yes. More personal interpretation without forcing the view on others. No conversion of others.

Whats with you and person interpretation? You think the whole Bible is metaphorical or something. Look there are certain things Christ commanded and there are certain things he intends Christians to do. Its as simple as that. Its not "forcing" something on someone else. Its speaking what the Bible teaches and telling them that if they want to follow Christ there's no other way they can take but the way the Bible teaches. No real preacher speaks agaisnt something he cant get scripture to back up.

I suppose God telling you to own slaves and kill homosexuals and have sex with your sister is not metaphorical then.

and if a christian tried to convert someone, yes it is forcing. *ahem*missions to africa*cough*all native americans*

Well, destroying their culture and enslaving them is better then letting their souls burn in hell forever. 😱
