It's quite obvious that Christianity was original a form of mysticism which has been watered down and combined with the Judaic religion. Jesus is like the Buddha of the west.

More like a Bodhisattva. If he had been a true Buddha, he would have told people not to worship him.

doesn't explainthe trident though.

Chatholicism twisted the concept of satan from the original judaic meaning.

Or the "chick" tract where the devil is all red........lol.......and laughing while the poor poor people are being tortured down there.........devils like really getting into it...........Has a pitch fork too I think....

Why would the devil need a pitch fork??? 🤨

God/Jesus was a bit of a bastard in them as well. The Muslim one where the guy is on his knees at judgement and goes "But I was a sincere Muslim" and Jesus goes "You were sincerely wrong" I half expected him to turn to an angel as the guy was thrown into hell and go "Zing! God I'm good."

Chatholicism twisted the concept of satan from the original judaic meaning.

Hasn't stopped Christians everywhere running with it and taking it as... Gospel.

ZING! 😂

The Theologians in seminary school should know this too, makes one wonder why many haven't left the faith.......though there have been many that have.....

Left the faith sounds so negative. They have moved on to a higher understanding. 😎

I believe religon is in mass decline. This whole evangelism thing started as a way to make permenant members.

Christianity is in decline, but many other religions are flourishing.

"flourishing"

It is interesting, kind of cycle like. Back during the Roman times, when Christianity was first becoming popular, it was due in part to people being bored with/feeling disconnected from the traditional " pagan" religions. The ones that benefited where ones that:

a. Promised some sort of insight into the universe, access to secrets, knowledge (the Cult of Isis, mystical religions, gnostics etc)

b. The ones that promised a better life eventually (Christianity for example)

Now there is reversal - people are still joining mystical religions on mass, and variations like Buddhism and many Hindu sub groups, but also they are turning from the mainstream monotheistic in preference to Neo-Pagan beliefs.

hmm..maybe paganism has more merit to it.

Christianity also had some frinds in high places in the RE, amazing for such a small minority. Personally, they should have just joined the Imperial Cult and the world would have been A LOT better off.

True. One of the reasons behind certain of the "persecutions" was the fact Christians were seen as a disruptive element bordering on traitorous (declaring God higher then the Emperor and the Eternal city of Rome nothing compared to God's city etc.) Usually people could have escaped persecution quite easily - all they had to do was sacrifice to the Emperor, then they could have their other beliefs. Of course they didn't.

Generally the Romans were quite tolerant of religious beliefs as long as they didn't clash with loyalty to state.

Also, the Christians would give money to the Imperial cult...lol.

Id say the Romans ha\d a wonderful model of religion [i]evocatio[/u] and other techniques built an international pantheon that combined gods from every culture they touched.

Many times I have considered a "Rome: the model of religon" thread.

I'd certainly support it. They were even more tolerant, usually, of Judaism them most cultures. The majority of the moderate Emperors let them maintain their own sections in cities and essential autonomy, just asking for a reasonable tax in return (though the Jews did suffer under some of the more extreme Emperors, as well as when they rebelled, which they did in the later Roman empire with alarming frequency. But that is no different for anybody, Roman or non-Roman)

seeing as a human easily shows more love than god.

By all rights, God should not even pay ANY attention to us AT ALL! We all chose to go against Him, and so we all earned for ourselves death and hell.

But that's the awesome thing about God. He is 100% love, however, He is also 100% just, and will not leave sins unpunished. So, He Himself took the punishment by living a life of perfection, to die a horrible death that He never deserved, but the one WE deserved.

And the gift of eternal life IS FREE because of the life and death and resurection of Christ Jesus. All we have to do is confess with our lips that He is Lord and believe it in our hearts, and we will be saved from eternal suffering in hell, which really is a horrible place to be.
