Metroid Prime 3!!!

Well, this is certainly interesting.

Today, Nintendo added to the WiiWare section of the Shop a "channel" specifically for promoting Metroid Prime 3. There are two new videos available, with at least two more on the way (coming on the 13th). The news section of the Shop carries a link-tagline of "A month of Metroid!" leading me to believe they will be promoting the game, through the Wii, for the rest of the month.

It's a bit late in the game for advertising, but it is an admittedly cool concept.

Yeah, they also put in there that Metroid 1 will be on VC August 13th, and the 20th is one of the greatest games ever: SUPER METROID!!!! 😄 😄 😄 😄

I can't wait, I put in the update and saw the Prime 3 videos earlier, it looks great!

Sweet.

must......get.........before.....i......stop......talking....like...this!

Hmm. Apparently a new MP3:C preview trailer was added to that Wii Shop channel thingy. Here it is for those who were too lazy to dust off their Wii to watch it:

YouTube video

"But what frightens her most... she likes it."
lol teh irony. 😱

Ah well. At least now we finally know the identity of the other hunters. So putting Iceman (Rundus) aside, the purple/Phazon lady is Gandrayda and that big robot-like hunter is called Ghor. Interesting...

I also like the fact that it's Meta Ridley whose name appears above the health bar once again (near the end) and not Ridley's (I find Meta's design to be much cooler). Seeing as how extremely similar his wings and everything looked in the E3 demo in comparison to the one in the first MP game, I should've known it was actually Meta all along and not the original. >_< Meh... I have to admit though, the graphics in the Ridley battle and pretty much everything else do look decently better now than they did back during 2006's E3.

well you cant blame me for watching this 😐
us aussies dont have that feature yet 🙁

Does anyone know if 3 is suppose to directly follow two, be post Super Metroid, or Post Fusion?

Yes, the entire Prime trilogy takes place between Metroid/Zero Mission and the rest of the series. People are speculating that the Space Pirate's use of Metroids in Corruption is what will spur the Galactic Federation to order Samus to exterminate all Metroids in Return of Samus.

I downloaded the Wii Shop Channel update and the MP3 video. The voice acting will be a nice addition, if you ask me. Graphically, the game looks slightly improved from the Gamecube's previous titles. Then again, we didn't buy a Wii for the graphics, now did we, folks? I'm guessing that the control scheme will be a bit similar to Legend of Zelda: Twilght Princess, but more intense since Metroid is a face paced action game, as opposed to the adventure/exploring style of LOZ. Does anyone think that the controls will be hard to learn initially?

Well, Prime 1 & 2 were notorious for using all of the GameCube's buttons, I'm curious to know, if say the beams are rotated by the d-pad, how we will rotate the Visors. We know there is at least one new visor, and one new suit as well.

Beams stack, a la Super Metroid and Fusion. Visors are selected, if it hasn't been changed, by pressing the minus button and pointing at one of the three sections on the screen that come up. It may sound awkward and slow reading it, but I'm sure it'll become second nature within an hour.

I'm like the new hunters and all the stuff. Makes the story feel much more epic. And it's about damned time we learned more about the hunters...sure Samus is the best, but I wanted to meet her competition.

Too bady I won't be playing this game until next year 🙁

Oh alright, well the stacking is good, has the classic Metroid feel. I hope you can turn them on and off to see the different beams. I sure hope Nintendo expects a lot of sequence breaking as well, like they did with Zero Mission.

Any idea what 1,2, and d-pad will be used for then?

To my knowledge, 1 is the map, and down on the D-pad is for missiles, though I don't know if you hold it down like classic Metroid games, or if it acts as just another button like the previous Primes.

Oh okay, well that doesn't seem too brutal yet, any idea for Z and C on the chuk?

My next question, actually. What kind of motion action will be available for the Nunchuck? Something similar to Link's spin attack in Twilight Princess, I bet.

Z is for locking on, and C is Morph Ball.

EDIT: As for nunchuck motion, flicking it forward fires the Grapple Beam, and then pulling it back retracts it, pulling debris away from a door or shields from the hands of Space Pirates.

Say what's the price of a Wii memory unit?

Memory unit? As in the little SD cards? Best prices I've seen are 1GB cards for $30, 2GB for $40, at Gamestop.

$30-$40? Is that reasonably high or low, in your opinion?
