Well, A lot of people seem to get off on bashing pot cause it is illegal and ''harmful''- πSo, Let's talk about the number 1 killer in my country- Cigarette's
They cause cancer, Take up rooms in the hospital, and generally are the worst thing besides Heroin, that anyone can be addicted too π Not to mention all the other negative things about it.
Marijuana does not do any of that, So if the Government are so up there ass about not making pot legal, (which is funny, how a ''plant'' can even BE illegal'' How do the Government explain, Why they have not made Cigarette's illegal. π
Personally I don';t think an all out ban would work - it would to too similar to the situation in America during prohibition.
What I do agree with is the ban on smoking in public places. I smoke, but I don;t see why i should make my friends uncomfortable just becuase of my life choice. I think the least a smoker can do is ask the people with if they mind them lighting up, and try and smoke out of the way of none smokers. I for one wouldn;t mind going outside if I wanted a cigerette....as long as they didnt take my cigerettes away, becuase I like smoking, and I might get nasty. Also it may help put people off taking up the habit, or encourage them to stop if they had to go outside in all weathers to light up.
You want to smoke find by me and when the day comes you need medical treatment from smoking. You should be charged 100% cost for your treatment. π I can not stand it when smokers blow smoke in my face, you would not expect me to take a leak all over you would you. So don't do it and I would raise the cost of cigarettes Β£5 for box of 10 and Β£10 for a box of 20. π ranting

I can understand a and b...but c...what the hell.
a) Okay the Treatment should obviously be paid by everyone themselves. Or by the Insurance they have paid for. Not by the state, or the tax payers, that makes sense. As it does with most other sorts of treatment.
b) Blowing Smoke in someone else's face who does clearly not enjoy it is rude, and should not be done. THat#S just basic manners. People that do it are assholes....and people that do it can't really complain about cigarette bans, cause well, they are not responsible about it.
c)Why artificially raise prices? THat doesn't make sense, cigarettes should cost what they cost (obviously with a reasonable tax on them) but not more. The capitalistic system works quite well there on its own.
I think this was an interesting argument and would like to continue on it on the first page.
The fact of the matter is, tobacco is an extreamly valuable crop. It supports over 100, 000 families in Zimbabwe alone...if you ban it, all those people will go without any income...
Besides, people have been smoking way before Philip Morris came around - a long time before, and just because very recently we discivered its harm, its begining to bother us. Every individual has the right and freedom to exercise the right of picking up a cigarette or not.
I wouldnβt mind if cigarettes became illegal. But slowly, as Lil Bitchiness points out, so as to give tobacco-farmers time to find new crops.
Secondly, if smoking becomes illegal due to its harmful effects to the smoker and others, what about car exhaust fumes?
When I jog around in my neighbourhood I breathe in 10 times as much air as normal. And the lung-specialist Dr. John Moore-Gillon has pointed out, that if we joggers can avoid exhaust fumes from cars, we should.
They contain sulphurdioxides, carbonmonoxides, and oxides of nitrogen and hydrocarbon, and when cars break, their tires release rubber into the air that gets into our lungs.
So β what about car exhaust fumes?
I think there is a comic twist to all this. Constantly reading about the ill effects of this and that, how harmful it is to breathe in smoke, car exhaust etc yet in this day and age we have longer life spans then ever recorded in history.
Smoking is bad for you ok I believe that, I don't smoke and I don't especially appreciate the odor either. Banning smoking or making tobacco illegal is stupid. The govt isn't a parental unit to its people its a partner. People should have the right to choose what they do to their bodies good or bad, the govt placing bans on cigarettes in public places is also ass! It should be the decision of the business owner not the Govt.
