That brings the question, how did he get another one?

I have heard that he received one, practically just like it, from the negative zone. I am not sure of this though.

Yeah, there's a story where he got another symbiote from the negative zone, but it seemed that writers forgot about it and later Cletus clearly had original symbiote, so i don't know if we could count this story as a canon upgrade...

I won't be surprised if they would have also forgot the venom clone upgrade .

Yeah, well. Venom vs Carnage was filled with plot holes. Black Cat not knowing who these 2 are. Etc.
