why did you choose Brazil?
Because I enjoyed watching them play more than anyone else, they're the only team I'd ever make the effort to watch. Romario was my favourite player in the world back then.
I didn't know of their reputation or past victories, then either. Not aware enough that choosing them would make that a reason, at least.

Question:What is your favourite football song ever?
I like New Order, but I don't really like that song. Although the John Barnes rap is hilarious.
I think that if English citizens and media figures are going to be so intensely focused on having a song each time, they should get good musicians to do it, at least.
VVD suggested The Darkness ages ago, or Justin Hawkins. I think that would be excellent. Not so much for the fact that it would be a football song, but just that it'd be a good song.

mine has to be three lions and world in motion
World In Motion is a great tune, but my favorite is Three Lions. I think it would be pretty difficult to create a more anthemic football related song than that. Although, Chas N Dave have a few gems...

Yeah, The Darkness could do a great football song...catchy, anthemic, absurd.

I've never found that to be the case. If anything, the fanaticism of idiots puts me off of England.
I've always had a somewhat paradoxical sense of appreciation for England- I usually appreciate it via the love shown by foreigners. When it's xenophobic, White-Van-Man bullshit, it just annoys me.
Especially when they say 'foreigners are just igronent'.

That's very true. In Asia and the US, there are many people who have a good opinion of English people. They appreciate the good things they can see about England, but are far enough removed to miss the bad things of the place. I've experienced these feelings a lot. Also, living away from England allows me to create the same sense of detached appreciation. I left England because there were many things I didn't like; the idiotic louts who dwell and pollute nearly all the towns and cities being one of them. I don't plan on living in England again, but I still relate to and appreciate some of the good things about it. I guess if I still lived in England, then I would probably feel the same as you and AC regarding the England team, but I don't, so I don't.
I don't support Brazil because people have put me off supporting England, I don't believe VVD supports any one team, but for me, it was never a case of not supporting England because of the fans.
I support Brazil because they're my favourite team. I like a lot of English players, I think that they have the potential to be one of the best teams (but Sven has seen that this won't happen), but they're not a team I love watching. The fact that I hate the aforementioned White-Van-Man bullshit is why I have a slight enjoyment in seeing them lose.
For example, my neighbours are the type to fly the St. George flag and have it on their cars etc. I think that's tacky and stupid, but they're nice people who despite poking fun at me for supporting Brazil, they respect that anyone should be able to support whoever they want, without fear of reprisal, but it's the people who will go that extra mile and start causing trouble, that I can't stand.

Just to get back to a point I noticed while going through this entire World Cup thread:
I noticed that Deano said he doesn't like Gary Neville or Owen Hargreaves, I just wanna note it that this isn't the consensus of all English fans, for I am a big fan of Gary Neville's, he is one of the most underrated right backs in the world, and I too support the inclusion of Owen Hargreaves, I wudda called him up myself

you're not removing the sense of national pride, i guess what im saying is just forget about the way the cunts act, it shouldnt be a reason for not supporting your home nation
Well, I'm still wondering what the reason is for supporting them. I always watch football to be entertained, not to take part in a nationalistic exercise. Couldn't give a shit where the players are from.
