Of course I don't make excuses for him. He's a very good player (Rooney), but when he's having a shit patch, people say "Lay off, he's having a bad patch.". Ronaldo has two bad games, recovers by breaking a record and people still don't drop it. That's hypocritical and pathetic.
If we've seen the best of Rooney and there are players younger than him, better, then why the hype? If we know he can't come on and wreck havoc (because he hasn't done so for club or country in a while), then why act like it?
