Fifa Germany 2006 - world cup thread

That is irrelevant though, they're still similar in stature, Rooney is younger also. Anyway, that's neither here nor there, considering it's the ranting of a bitter England fan because "fatty" is the highest scoring player in any World Cup.

With Shevchenko it's a case of "He scores a lot, so he's a genius.". Which is stupid logic, because Owen isn't a genius, and he's got a shit load of goals for England.

You say I make idiotic comments then you say Rooney is as fat as Ronaldo!!!

Plus, you say Rooney has no world cup goals, did Ronaldo have any at his age??

And as for Shevchenko, you can't play for Milan for the time he has, and scored as many important goals as he has, and get a £30+ million pound bid from Chelsea for being a "bad" player, you can't score lots of goals for a team like Ukraine without being a quality player

Genius is my word for him because he is a player I look up to, he has the attributes I look for in a striker, and he's the kinda striker I enjoy watching, he is more than just a target man, or a six yard wonder, he can be dangerous from many different areas of the pitch, he drops back to help the midfield, he is a work-horse who always gives his all in every department, a player who is suited to a very physical style of game and a flair filled one too, I like his style and what he offers, he is a pleasure to watch, and has a great record in the Champions league as mentioned above

Do I ask you why you love Ronaldo so much?? No I don't, I respect that you like him, and that he is the kind of player you enjoy watching, and good player or past it, he is fat, even Leonardo said so, and he's Brazilian!!! You need to realise he is quite hefty and his mobility on the pitch and fitness isn't what it was, he needs to tone down to get back to brilliance, at the moment he has to hang around the six yard area instead of scoring the type of goals that made him famous in the first place

rooney is naturally that weight. ronaldo has put on a few pounds.

not many people can be called a genius, i dont think shevchenko is one, nor do i think pele is one either. maradona or ronaldinho are two genius's imo.

shevchenko is indeed world class though

I supposed different people interpret genius in their own way, but to me people like Shevchenko, Roberto Baggio and Alan Shearer are geniuses

It depends on how you define your own brand of "genius"

By the way if AC sends any messages aimed at me in any way, someone will have to tell me, I can't stand to see his constant insults and other crap anymore, so I have him on ignore

genius for me is when you see a player do something and you are amazed and dumbfounded at what has just happened. those moments happen when i watch ronaldinho.

I said he's no fatter than Rooney. Rooney isn't fat, is he? Do you not see my point?

Who was better? Ronaldo at 20 or Rooney at 20? The reason I mention Rooney's goals, or lack thereof, is because Ronaldo has some, Rooney has none. Rooney gets hyped more than any player on Earth who isn't Spanish or Italian, and he has done f*ck all to live up to it in this World Cup. Messi, Robinho, Fabregas etc have all done much better. Shit, even Lennon and Hargreaves have had better games.

This is how you're an idiot. Money means nothing, Chelsea bought Veron for an extortionate price and what did he do?

I never said he was shit, or bad, I said he was overrated and not a genius. Once again you're on the blob because I'm not felching him.

So he's a genius because you like him? Hardly a credible claim. People out there probably like Gary Speed, too.

All you've done there is list things you think he does or is good at, I've not seen substantial proof of any, and I've seen a great deal of his games. Why is it now a positive to mention Shevchenko's record, yet when Ronaldo becomes leading World Cup scorer ever, he's still "fatty" and washed up? Oh, because you're a hypocritical idiot.

You think Shevchenko is a genius because you like him, that means nothing.

He's not "fat" is he? Let's bring ourselves (you) back down to Earth. He isn't a fat man. He's bigger than he was before, he can probably run faster than many of us and if it were you Vs him in a battle for the ball, chances are that he wouldn't lose out. Putting on a couple of pounds doesn't make you fat.

Your love for Shevchenko and my admiration for Ronaldo are two different things. Ronaldo was beating multiple men and scoring legendary goals for Inter Milan long before Shevchenko was known, and at a younger age. He proves himself in the face of the world having a pop at him, as he is doing now, as he did in 2002. What does Shevchenko do for Ukraine? Hardly anything unless the other guy who's name I forget (Malinichenko?) is on the pitch providing service. He misses penalties, he misses chances often.

I'm not denying he is a prolific goal scorer, but that doesn't make him a genius, neither does liking him. I think Gilberto Silva is a blinding player, but I don't think he's a genius.

i disagree. rooney has just come back from injury and i dont expect him to be at his full best. he is getting there though. messi hasnt ran riot either. robinho has had his moments. lennon hasnt had enough time tbh.
i agree hargreaves has played better, he has proved a lot of people wrong

Alan Shearer is a genius for being the dirtiest player in the premiership and for making sure hardly anyone ever picked up on it.

he leads with his elbows for every header.

Then why all the hype about "Oh god, Rooney is injured! NOW WHAT?!". You've got him back and the team is still doing shit, play wise. Messi came on for 15 minutes against Serbia after a longer time out with a worse injury, what did he do? Scored one, set one up. Rooney, 35 minutes against Trinidad, what did he do? Nothing. What are people ACTING like he did? Everything, or saying "Give him a chance".

Don't hype him if you know he won't live up to it.

Robinho has "moments" whenever the ball is at his feet, in my opinion. He's been the best Brazilian player in this World Cup besides Kaka and Gilberto Silva.

so just because rooney didnt set one up or score a goal on his return, that makes him ...what does that make him? we all know what he is capable of.

just because messi scores a goal against a team with a shit defence who had just let in 5 previous to that, you think he is fairing better than rooney. would messi have scored against t&t? i doubt it because of the way they was playing. you judge things wrong all the time.

whats messi done since? nothing. maybe because he is just back from injury and not at his best perhaps?

i know what they both can do when they are at there best. we all know.

Well I agree that a player who can make magical things happen on the pitch can be considered a genius, like for example Deano said Ronaldinho, that's a good example of a player who does great things on the pitch, but for me I don't see him as a genius

I'm more of a fan of the players who score alot of goals and are prolific and strong, physical players, the type who will do anything to score and win the ball and track back to help the midfield and sometimes the defense

Those are the kind of players I see as geniuses

Oh I was actually stupid enough to click on one of AC's posts, and actually in his arguement about Ronaldo beating me to the ball.....I very much doubt it, one thing I am blessed with is lightning pace

Hahahahahahaha.

I actually did the Homer Simpson laugh there. Ronaldinho isn't a genius, Alan Shearer is, and you're faster/better than Ronaldo.

Leave.

Precisely, I know what he is capable of, which is why I don't see the hype. Because he's a very good player, just a very good player. People go over the top, and I find it ridiculous, because it's off the back of nothing.

No, I judge things differently to you, you make excuses for Rooney all the time. The point is, Messi came on, played great, set up a goal, scored a goal. Rooney did nothing against anyone he's played against for a long time. When was the last time he scored for England?

He's done more than Rooney so far, fact. One goal to his name, a few assists.

The funny part is, everyone says "We've not seen the best of Rooney!", but somehow everyone has summed up how full Messi's potential is, despite him being 19, just.

Another ignorant post by you!!!! I swear there are probably a queue of people who wanna smash your face in because you're so mind-numbingly stupid and patronising!!!!

As I said, everyone has a different opinion of genius!!!

And yes I am faster than Ronaldo, and if I bother you so much, you ****ing leave, you're the one who annoys the arse off everyone with your idiotic posts

Hahaha, too funny, you and your existence.

"I'm putting him on ignore because I can't stand/can't reply to his insults/posts (psh, not really).".

Only to reply with such rhetoric as:

"Another ignorant post by you!!!! I swear there are probably a queue of people who wanna smash your face in because you're so mind-numbingly stupid and patronising!!!!"

Too hilarious, you.

Continue, it'll likely end up getting you banned, tough guy, or just ignore me for real.

we have seen the best of rooney, just not in this world cup. one could say that you dont make excuses for rooney all the time. messi scored a goal and set one up against a terrible serbia side. nuff said. he has done nothing else since
