They couldn't beat a 9 man USA, beat Australia thanks to a controversial penalty, then had Ukraine. Practically a bye to the semis, in which they played mad against Germany, that was it.
It was an undeserved win, but that aside, I think it's shit that it was decided on penalties, and that would apply to any team.

Well, Italy are champs and deservedly so. That penalty was total BS and the goal that was called back was also a bit dodgy but whatever they were able to come back and win in the end in a penalty shootout of all things.
What horrible play by Zidane, what an awful way to go out. I wonder how fans, especially French fans will remember him now. I've officially seen everything that could possibly happen in futbol today.
All in all I was disappointed in the final, it didn't live up to expectations at all. I really wish it could have been better played. My condolences to all French fans, you did well to get this far and you should be proud.
It's been fun mates see you again in 4 years, maybe?

haha i love the fact you still wont admit theyre a good team after they've lifted the world cup for the 4th time.

they conceded 2 goals throughout the whole tournament, an own goal and a penalty and scored a reasonable amount themselves... proceded through one of the toughest groups and although they had a pretty easy last 16 etc, they proceded to the finals where they beat France... Pirlo, Cannavaro and Buffon all up for players of the tournament as well, what would it have taken for you to say they are a pretty good team? come to your house and fellate you while doing keepy-ups?
They scored 12 goals in this tourney by 10 different players, a WC record shared by France of '82 coincidently, and allowed no goals in the whole tourney. I think it's pretty absurd and ridiculous to even argue this. The stats obviously speak for themselves.
But I guess there's always sour grapes from someone.
hope you keep arguments over the winner at a decent level if you want this to saty open for post-discussions.

i can't believe what zidane did. i don't think there's a player i respect more than him..and to see this happening....very disappointing.
i wonder what materazzi said to him. that shot with zidane walking downstairs past the cup was excelent...sad though.
in any way....good job italy. they deserved to win.
cannavaro's had a near perfect game throughout the whole thing. and pirlo is incredible. well done.
Italy are a sucky-suck-suck team with only a couple of world-class players - Buffon and Cannavaro, Zambrotta at a push. France totally dominated them throughout the game, and especially in the 2 periods of extra time. Zidane was floating like a butterfly until he unleashed the bull. It's sad because I thought it would be really beautiful if he won it for France. He's been one of the greatest players ever. So sad...
Anyway, it has been a good World Cup, but I don't think there have been any great teams.
