I bet I've been through alot more of life than you have.I have SEEN demons, in real life, seen the power of God, through healing, through prophecy, through things revealed to preachers that only I knew about, through many more things that I have seen in my life, like answered prayers than you have, a normal girl, who is in school, and online so much that they made you a mod.
I don't mean to say that at 23 I know all, but I have seen quite a bit, .... physically, in front of my eyes,.. to make me believe that the Bible is real, it is law, and that it is the word of God.
Nothing you do or say, (or anyone else, for that matter) can change what I have seen and what has been proven true in my life.
Number one - don't dare to make such assumptions about my life. Number two, you're older than me. Of course you've been through MORE of life than I...but that doesn't mean a damn thing.
I've been through a lot, and I've seen a lot, and all it's done is support and strengthen the fact that I do not believe a god exists and that religion is bull. I have NEVER prayed to or about anything. Every single thing that's gone right for me in my life has done so because of the simple fact that I had done it myself, not because I prayed to some false idol. You can say that "god gave me the strength to do it", but I don't believe in that.
And really...how can you believe something to be real and law when it contradicts itself so much? I got kicked out of CCD classes when I was nine years old for asking why the bible said something in one part and then said something completely different later. I was nine and I was already figuring out what was wrong with religion! Doesn't that say anything about it to people?
Nothing you or anyone else can say will change what I think either. However, I'm not trying to change your opinion. You, however, seem to expect everyone to conform to yours.

The bible is always more appealing to those that need hope and have little else but hate/fear in their lives.
I disagree. More like it's a crutch for people who don't want to live on their own terms.

i disagree with that. athiests believe in nothing that is not worldly. you never had a monster under your bed? even without the aid of organised religion, children do seem to have a universal belief in the supernatural 😛
Well ! week old Babies usually doin'T. I think that is included...Kids don't fear anything idf they don't know it exists (that means they either connected by their knowledge it might exist or they learned it from other peopl). I think Atheist fits the state of mind of a New Born quite well.

Or, the idea of him, I guess.
you just said it again. you hated him
what if i told you that the almighty platypus ruled the heavens?
do you hate him too? or do you maintain absolute indifference
because you know he doesnt exist? see what i mean?

I'm sorry that that happened to you Lana, you should have been explained how the Bible was written, and how all of its contradictions are not TRULY contradictions but differing looks at the same topic by someone who was gentle and comforting.
I'm happy with my life, and have been blessed in many ways.
I too, used to think that it was all me who did these things, until I saw demons, healing, prophecy (that came true), and Discernment (one of the spiritual gifts, where the Holy Spirit reveals things about a person to another person that they couldn't possibly know) in front of my eyes, that woke me to the true nature of my life, and indeed, the world.
I wonder what you would do if you were to see such things?
Do you ever sit on your bed at night and look at your ceiling and wonder what happens after this?
Where will you go?
Will you go anywhere?
Will there be nothing?
I know in your heart of hearts that you have to have had one or two moments like this in your young life, (if not more) and it's becuase our souls/minds INSTINCTIVELY know that this isn't all,... that there is "something" else out there.
I hope you find what you are looking for.
My wife and I will be praying for you tonight, Lana. 🙂

but a new born infant cant contemplate can it? sure it can think "im hungry waaaaa" or "my diapers wet waaaaaaa" but do you really believe a newborn has the mental capacity to ask itself "why am i here? whats it all about?" i think only when you reach the age where you can or care to contemplate these things, and at that point you believe that there is no god or otherworldly beings, that you are an athiest.

I hate Jar Jar Binks...I know quite well that he doesn't exist.....you can hate something you know or believe doesn't exist (as a concept).

While we are at admitting stuff, I though I'd add that something you or anyone else on here says might very well change my point of view...

you win PVS....
I was secretly a Christian all the years that I didn't believe in it, and that I went out of my way to put it down or avoid it all costs.
🙄 😛

you believed in an entity that was god and you hated him. therefor you still believed. i cant make this any simpler and cant believe you would go on to debate this 😖

Well that'S your own definition of Atheism though.

I was dead serious dude,
I meant that out of total love.
I hope that her life is happy, and I pray that God reveals himself to her.
I don't pray for people to feel "Fire and Brimstone".
I respect yours and hers right not to practice my religion, but please don't mock me if I say that me and my wife will pray for her.
I meant that in a kind, positive way (truly!) 🙂 I wasn't putting her down.
Just for that, me and the missus are praying for you now too! 😛 😉

"One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods."
thats one. feel free to post any others.
my point is that an athiest, as stated, disbelieves or denies. you have to have knowledge that there is a belief in order to disbelieve it, correct? how can you deny an idea that you dont know exists?
i think in order to be an atheist you must first ask "is there more than this?" and then come to the conclusion: "no"

I can't say I've wasted any time wondering where I'll go after I die. Because it's nowhere.
I know how the bible was written. It was written by a number of people long after the events supposedly make sense, making it - at best - an inaccurate second-hand account, and at worst a complete work of fiction.
And no, they ARE contradictions. God supposedly forgives all, yet anyone who doesn't do what he says will go to hell. People can sin and be horrible people but so long as they confess they're fine, but someone who does not believe yet leads a good life and is a moral person is condemned. Yeah, that's a contradiction.
I do not "instinctively" know that there is something out there. I do not believe anything based on faith.
Don't bother praying for me, I don't want it. I don't want your beliefs, and I don't want your pity and contempt. And quite frankly I find that incredibly offensive that you will not accept the fact that I am quite secure with the fact that I am atheist.
