I believe englands laws alow for self defence, but only on the same level as the criminal...
So if he has a feather, You can use a feather, Only if he attacks you... You can't have a bigger weapon then the criminal...
This is mainly so that people don't arm them selves up... I like the fact that no one in england..( I say no one, but theres a slim minority) has guns...
I don't think man should have the ability to kill faster then they can ask whats going on....

What are the laws regarding self defense in your country?Over here, if a burglar breaks into your home, trips over your coffee table and breaks his leg, he can sue the owner of the house for damages!
That's nothing to do with self-defence. It's also highly unlikely.

In the UK (England and Wales anyway) it depends on reasonableness.
This is partly subjective so sometimes that can be a lot of force.

There is none, thats just it. You can't defend yourself at all. Soon enough, a woman won't be able to defend herself against a rapist.
Soon ? You are too optimistic 😆
Its already like this in Turkey... didn´t you hear about that 17 year old girl who was sentenced to death by defending herself of an rapist, what resulted in his death.
Here in The Netherlands the burglar seems to have more rights than the victim as well. As written in the law; you are not allowed to hurt him in any way (I think even foul language will get you a ticket), unless you are forced to self-defence. You can't attack him/her first, and you most definitely can't use some sort of weapon doing so. That can get you sued for attempted manslaughter while the criminal gets victim-aid (which you might even have to pay for!).
Now in reality the law is a little more flexible on this and you will probably get away with shoving the dude out the door, but he still better not get bruised...

That sucks big time...it's totally crap that the offenders have more rights than the victims. 😠
Indeed, and it makes you wonder about how you would act if you were to wind up in a situation like that. When encountering a burglar, would you keep the law in mind to avoid all sorts of lawsuits and let him steal your rightful property or would you ignore all that in a moment of anger and insult and break his face, despite the consequences?
Then again, you will likely be asleep while the burglar enters, how capable do you think you will be to overpower him when he is high on adrenaline already and you are still dozed and confused?
I worked hard for my properties, but they ain't worth my life...
I am not allowed to own any kind of firearm, let alone use it on a burglar. I don't even wanna actually, lethal force is not in comparison with the crime, how insulting it even is.
Then again, the burglar better be sure I am not at home or fast asleep when breaking in. And with the tough locks on my door he is bound to find me awake before he gets in.
With a staircase only 3 feet from my door I have a good chance of explaining his injuries as an accident as he was fleeing.

Are you serious? So if you catch some fool in the act of stealing your property, your just gonna stand back and let it happen? If I EVER catch anyone burglarizing my home, that pinche joto will pay dearly!
When I was 21, I went outside to go to work at 5 in the morining one day, and I caught some vato trying to jack my wheels! I completely lost it, and I beat the shit out of that little guero and told him that I better never see him in this neighborhood again. Needless to say, I never saw him again.
You have a point, but what would be the wisest thing to do? Go blind at the invader (and there may be more), who is anticipating your intervention more than you are anticipating his? Or to gather your family and take cover so you at least know you are protecting them instead of putting your life, and theirs, on the line for mere material property?
