My last reply was to Makedde's post in which the need to protect the family was the issue. Leaving the fam' is the last thing you should do then. What I meant was life over property, stay between harm and the folks with your wits sharp and don't go out trying to save your cd-collection.
And yeah I agree with you, I would never even think about jurisdictional consequences when some pity-full ass breaks in to my home to steal my hard-earned stuff. I would mess him up good.
Last thing I worry about when I'm at home is burglars, I only worry about them when I'm away.

Another pathetic law we have here: If you rent out a property you own, the person who rents it can refuse to pay the rent, and you have no legal way of evicting them. 😮

Also, if you wre to go on holidays, lock up your house, and you could return to find someone had broken into your home and was now living in it, you have no legal way to get them out of your home. Because you were away, anyone could just move in, and you, the home owner, are left out on the street, while people live in your house and trash it, then leave, and you are left to pay the bill because insurance won't cover the damage. 🙄

When i went to Australia, its beautiful but the laws and govt is stupid.
Like they have speed cameras everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! Then have school zone speed cameras on major roads!!

They wanted to install a camera on a certain point in a highway and then another camera 20 km down. Why because if you went through those 20 km then the time it should have taken you at the speed limit you get a ticket.
I understand road safety buts thats just weird.
In Canada the Cops don't really enforce speeding because everyone is speeding. Then the American goes at 55mph on the highway and everyone starts yelling at him!

here in florida you cant touch a burglar unless he attacks you first. so that means a guy can literally be like, hey i know i just broke into your house and all ,but please believe me, im not here to hurt you, and you still couldnt mess with him....other than chase him off of course..

but coincidentally Florida’s legislature has approved a bill that would give residents the right to open fire against anyone they perceive as a threat in public, instead of having to try to avoid a conflict as under prevailing law. but if its your house its outtaa the question

No source, no internet source anyway. We hear about this sort of thinkg all the time on Current Affairs shows. They always run stories of people who have returned from holidays to find someone has taken up in their homes, and thepolice say there is nothing they can do. 🙄 It's really sad. I also think it's kinda racist, because most of the people who take up in peoples homes are Aboriginal, and the Civil Libertarians think that Aborigines should be able to do whatever they please, and if we force them out of the houses, we'd be racially discriminating against them. 🙄

They (Aborigines) can also force you to move out of your house, just by claiming that land your house is built is 'sacred' to Aborigines. If they say it's sacred land, you have to move. 🙄

If the police can do nothing, that doesn't mean it's legal; just that it's not criminal.

There's a simple solution to this problem, set up trip-mines all over the inside of the house when you go on vacation.

I know, it totally sucks. 😠

Blowing a burglar to bits might be a bit excessive (although maybe the best solution to rid society of these bastards), but every national law should atleast grant you the right to kick a burglar's ass thoroughly.
Those writing the laws fail to consider how they themselves would feel/act when violated by a crime, and blindly hold on to the humain approach.
Easy thing to do for these politicians, with their insane incomes, steel gates and secured houses, 8 pitbulls and a hot-line to the cops.

Who cares about the damn law? If I find someone in my house, I'll beat the s**t out of them. I someone tries to arrest me for it, I'd beat the s**t out of them too.
