we lose the will to live? no, thats not it. my grandpa lived to be 90 and he enjoyed life to the fullest. he was ready to go, but he didnt want to go.
we die because everything has an expiration date. the better you take care of yourself, the longer you live (in most cases.)

As a great man once said: "All we are is dust in the wiiinnndddd...oooo...OOOOOOO!!!" (sobbing) You're my boy Blue!" We die because if we didn't....well life would be meaningless...and that would be contrary to what we kill each other over for.

We die because our thymus gland shrinks as we get older. The thymus is an important part of our immune system. Our bodies also produce less hormones as we get older that are important to our immune system.

I thought that after puberty the thymus gland shrinks because it's no longer needed 😖

As for why we die.. then 'cause our body can no longer function. But if you mean it like why can we not liver forever in the first place (if you know what I mean, I can't explain it) then I don't know. I'm not very good with philosophy...
