He initially engages each character he faces with the force, not with his saber.
:erm:
Well, Anakin was charging at him like a reek on steroids - and considering how Anakin is a young, strong, fit guy and Dooku is freakin' old, he probably went with his best shot (literally) and blasted him away with the Force. Then he did the same thing to Obi-Wan, boasting about "his strength in the Force". I think he did that to show off. Which is really more supported by the fact that he doesn't do it in RotS or against Yoda in DR.
I disagree. I feel, at times, Dooku's lightsaber skills are overestimated and his Force prowess underplayed. He's absolutely distinguished in either respect. His Force powers were such that he was able to put Ventress to her knees by lifting a finger. He was an outstanding practitioner of Force lightning, and Yoda makes it clear that he was one of the very, very most skilled and powerful Jedi in the Order's history. Hell, the RotS novelization makes it clear, too that Dooku is "an even greater Dark Lord of the Sith" than he was as a Jedi - suggesting the obvious (an extreme power increase under Sidious's apprenticeship). In the Order's history, he was considered "the most bitter loss" due to his strength in the Force.
Yet when he was in absolute desperation and sent Kenobi supposedly "flying", Obi-Wan only landed on the other side of the stairway, unphased. Of course, Kenobi's strong defense must have played a roll, but still whatever.
