I highly recommend 'V for Vendetta ' . Natalie Portman is wonderful as heroic engenue ' Evie ' who, initially , hides her tortured past in her work, but realizes that love and compassion and understanding are the only vehicles that could destroy a destructive and totalitarian idea such as the one that held futuristic London in its grasp with fear and death. The character ' V ' in the movie refers to the numbered cell in a somewhat modern ' death camp' / political prison camp where so -called ' political prisoners ' would be subjected to inhumane experiments. He happened to be locked in cell numbered " V " and he did not experience the same symptoms as the other prisoners who were given the same virus from the prison officials.
Though there is terroristic actions that Evie and ' V ' use in the movie, these are not an answer to the general problem of changing oppressive governments and the idea that anyone with differing philosphies and lifestyles should be detained and treated worse than cattle. The answer to this problem must reside inside each and everyone of us that wishes to live the way we wish and to respect others for their beliefs.
I rate this movie 3 and 1/2 *'s from a possible 4*'s !!!!! It is very compelling and thought - provoking !
