Yeah, they could be in the mix for Halladay again too, but hopefully they go after Figgins aggressively.

The Mariner fan in me is like "meh," the Griffey fan in me is like "sweet," the baseball fan in me is like "he's ruining his legacy." I'm all sorts of confused.

eh hes not hurting his legacy he has been far from a great player for many years.

He's never been .220 bad, though. And don't come back with the old "well, he wasn't really pitched to, he does other things for them, his on base percentage was fine...blah, blah, blah," I know all that, I watched every Mariner game except for two.

Lincecum the Cy Young winner baby!

did he really deserve it?

Absolutely. He lead the league in strikeouts and was second in ERA(second only to a guy who missed an entire month of action). Not only was he the best pitcher in the NL this past season, but he was the best pitcher in the entire league.

You can definitely argue for Greinke having the better year. He had a better ERA, started 1 more game, had 2 more complete games, 1 more shutout, and as bad as the Giants might be the Royals are worse.

i agree..

Greinke was the best. Lincecum was 2nd.

Well Halladay put his foot down. Gave the Jays a deadline (spring training) to trade him and said if they dont trade him by then he will not discuss any further trades or contract talks (he has full trade veto control). So essentially they trade him by spring training or they are letting him walk for nothing but compensation picks.

They'll trade him.

I remember talking about his trade value being worst. I don't agree purely on the fact that trade values are usually dictated by how many teams want the player.

If the Yankees, Red Sox and others really wanted Halladay, then that will dictate who the Jays are going to receive.

Yea but you never know. They both wanted Johan and the Twins got greedy and kept asking for more and that fell through. He still has good value with a full season to pitch before the team would lose him to FA but they need to get it done at the winter meetings because the closer it gets to spring training the worse it might get for them.

True.

I'm not worried.

If we have Halladay, we have Halladay. If we don't, we at least get a few first rounders.

Supposedly the Rays are getting pretty involved with Halladay talks.

I am excited Seattle is bringing in Figgins but we really need some power somewhere in that lineup. With Figgins great ability as a lead off hitter I think they might need to ask Ichiro to go to 3rd, he is certainly capable of it and his speed is not as great as it once was at lead off. If we manage to land Bay also to hit 4th it will be amazing.

Holy shit apparently Phillies are getting Halladay and as part of the deal Mariners will get Lee.

congrats to the phillies for getting halladay, he is one hellluva pitcher

Guy from the Foxsports.com called this a week ago.

I wonder who the Jays get. Hopefully something worthwhile.

Yea I dont know who all is supposed to be moving yet other than Phillippe Aumont who was the M's 1st round pick in 2007 and is from Canada.
