my 360 and the 360s of many whom i have discussed this with get really hot especially when playing graw for a few hours. without the added ventilation, the fans are barely functional if at all. with the intercooler attacked, the box stays cool and i can feel hot air being blown out from the vent. enough proof to make me a believer.

My 360 doesn't get abnormally hot, but the desk/shelf I keep it in has an open back, so that helps.

The reason I bought one of those nyko Intercooler was because my apartment gets as hot as a pizzeria oven during summertime. Since I'm a cheap bastard I don't use an AC and a simple electric fan is good enough for me. Besides my 360 doesn't heat up like a lava rock it actually works fine under normal room temperature. I only bought the intercooler as a precaution for the high temps of Summer. Which is just around the corner.

It might get really hot because you're not supposed to put the 360 in an enclosed space (like a really small cabinet) and its not recommended to put it horizontally

So you would have an orgasm over good graphics as opposed to good gameplay...? 🤨

Do you even know what Halo's storyline is?

Like I said before, the gameplay is still great without a fancy controller. And yes, I know the storyline and I love it

I heard it wasn't recommended to put it vertically.

Thats weird 🤨

The only thing you have to make sure of is that the disk goes under those clips on the disk tray.... thats about it.

*agrees with this comment*

Vertically, the 360 scratched one of my discs beyond repair. It's strictly horizontal for me now.

When you put it vertically, the side fans would be on the surface, hence blocking any ventilation coming through/out there.

Mine is vertical, works perfectly, and looks way cooler.

I guess I'll be putting my 360 horizontally then.... (stupid bastards at gamestop)

Bah, the 360 looks cooler on its side. 😛

No it doesn't, looks like a big white DVD player or VCR or something, standing up it looks all sleek and shit.

Oh yeah, the 360 looks way better vertically.

Windu, the disc scratched because it probably was moved when it was on.

It doesn't have to be on, if you move the system while a disc is even in the drive and the machine is off, it could still scratch it, it tells you to remove discs before moving it.

Hmm, oopps.

*runs to XBOX*

Yeah, I've done it a few times and have had no problems, but apparantly it can happen.

Psshaw, that's why I like it. Reminds me of some futuristic... Bose system, in fact. 😛

my 360 is horizontal, in a cool area (well, the whole place is cool) and has plenty of 'elbow room' i guess you could say. with graw though, that b!tch would heat up like crazy. i didnt reaslise how hot it was getting until i felt the back of the box, and yes it was pretty bad. the fans seemed to have been designed sacrificing functionality for low volume.
all i know is i feel hot air blowing out. hot air that would otherwise be sitting inside that easy-bake oven.

The back is supposed to get hot, it's perfectly normal.
