Is God all he's cracked up to be?

I think that some people get confuse because we can only experience reality through our senses. It is easy then to think that nothing is real just because we can’t understand it. The truth is, there is a real world, but we can never completely understand it.

Definately. The human mind can only comprehend what it gets from its senses, nothing more.

Oh I see what Shakya means...at the same time I see he is wrong....

If you actually did understand the context in which he said it you would not have made such a pointlessly pedantic and childish response.

That really was very poor indeed.

And yet its the interaction of atoms that make us who we are, as well as even an atom just sitting is potential energy because it has effects on things outside itself.

Even atoms themselves are made up of subatomic particles that interact constantly to keep an atom what it is. Hence energy is everything, constant interaction at all levels.

Yes, and if you read about non-locality you'll see how all things are much more then we can perceive...from distances even...connected in some way through waves over lapping........

Well, I don't agree to the term relative....I am saying that we can't be sure that there is a real world..that doesn't mean that I don't think there is a real world.

Way to miss a point. I never, even never ever, claimed that nothing is real...never...

What is up with you being all high and mighty while not participating in a discussion at all?

Also he said:

"I don't think it's wrong. Only slandering someone is wrong."

in a response to this:

When Debbie says "We are all Energy" that is stating a fact (if this so called fact is wrong or right does not matter). She'S not stating her beliefs (well she is, but claiming they are facts)....and that'S also what Christians do ...and well, it's jsut not what one should do I think, because no one can be really sure about their spiritual belief.

Now, let me be silly there for a moment: Isn't stating something as a fact that is not a fact slandering the truth?....no, obviously it isn't, but saying "slandering someone" obviously implies the real definiotion of slander...not the Shakya definition that no one seems to have heard ever before....so...

Well, I don't agree to the term relative....I am saying that we can't be sure that there is a real world..that doesn't mean that I don't think there is a real world.

I don't wish to get in your guys' little debate here but........"real" is a term created by man to describe the view of our world gained through our 5 senses as defined by the majority. By definition.....if the majority experiences the same world through their 5 senses, it is real.........regardless if there is actually any substance to it.

ps. everything is made of energy.....as atoms are made of energy. As a matter of fact....an atom is made of so much energy, guess what happens when you split it open........boom.....

I mean its all realtive to the individual and his 5 senses though............

I think the word real is defined to mean more than just what we perceive...if it exists it is what is actually there, besides what we perceive.

Wait ...maybe I am wrong here but are they actually energy or is there just a lot of potential energy?

Uh how can it be anything more? And atoms have alot of energy inside them electrons, neutrons, protons etc all mixing around its all electro magentic energy and potential.

Well...take "if a tree in the forest falls and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?"....if there is a real world I'd say yes...if it's just what we perceive ...hmm nthat not....or maybe my table here is really totally different shaped than I see it ....

Yes ...okay...a lot...but atoms are not equal to energy...

Does it matter if it makes a sound? There is a transfer of energy regardless.....................

What's the point in asking if anything matters?

It doesn't matter but many people me included believe that ther is a real world, I also believe that it is close to what I perceive....but it is the real world regardless of what we perceive....

Whats your definition of energy there Bardock42
