Well yeah there both theroies that try to explain the origin of life. it's just that ID rely's on a designer and proving there is a designer is well very difficult because we don't know what it is.

Again, the reason to exclude it from Science class isn't because it is definitely gibberish, but because there is absolutely no reason to think it is true. It is based entirely on a non-scientific opinion about what is and is not 'randomly' possible. It doesn't have any part to play in the scientific process. Such faith-based ideas belong in faith-based classes.
agreed. i'm not sure it necessarily conradicts what scientists think though, at least not as much as it tries to fill in the blanks left behind by science and its theories. science breaks down at a certain level. taking what scientists speculate as truth is faith of another form. some will say that the idea of m-theory and 11 dimensions to the universe, or the fact that our universe is really only the daughter of a previously existing universe and merely continuing a cycle that has gone on forever, is as crazy as believing in an intelligence behind its creation.
of course, ID can't be proven and so cannot be called 'scientific' and i believe it should NOT be taught in a scientific sense. but it is interesting, and is at least worthy of intelligent discussion.
Why do people call it Intelligent design and not Stupid design? Because there is the assumption that it is Intelligent.
Does it really matter? Isn't the more important thing rather what we as humans can do to live better, more compassionate, peaceful lives, regardless of what the 'Universe' is?
You cannot wrap something as big as the Universe into a theory anyway, and if we do it's not like the universe is gonna notice our interpretations.
