I dont think he was healthy, he just came off of double knee surgery.

Shogun said he was a 100% coming into the fight.

Jones fought a very smart fight. Those side kick to Shoguns knees were beautiful.

Didnt look like it, anyways...Jones deserved it.

Sherdog has blown up. They no longer hug Silvas nuts.

Ditto.

I hope Jones smashes the crybaby Rashards face in.

I want Silva Jones next.

Shogun definitely wasn't using his kicks, but he did have to go through Jones' reach.

The guy is just too unpredictable, very skilled for someone who recently started mma and still growing. I can see him holding that belt for a while, I'm almost feeling bad for Rashad.

jon is awesome

Shogun and CroCop both destroyed... I'm going to go cry into my Pride DVD's. Fighting is a hell of a drug.

Shogun will trample Bones.

Well I stand correct. Shogun totally got manhandled by the greenhorn. It reminded me of Velasquez vs Lesnar; one-sided with the champ not pouring his heart-&-soul into it. But in that instance, Velasquez was the favorite and the one with the experience. Shogun is a veteran of the sport, and at 29, still young. By all objective measures, he should have won. Oh well, es nada sucede...

Now, its time to focus on GSP vs Shields.

Nah. Jones is gonna fold Shogun up like an old wallet. You heard it here 1st.

Indeed we did; nice call.

At times, I wonder if the champs sometimes simlpy throw the fight. The Romans use to call it: Lenio vestri sarcina, "Passing on the burden to another". In reference to a champion being tired of being the champion.

I really hope so but Shogun's year lay off and knee injury might play a big part. Remember the Forrest fight? And how terrible he looked against Mark Coleman?

Both those fights he had a year long lay off due to his knee injury and now I'm afraid history is repeating itself 🙁

I hope Shogun still wins it though. But Jon is no joke.

I made this post before Jones won. Its rare to see Shogun gas but now even if he gets a rematch one day with Jones. Jones will be even more improved and his gas tank will be much better as well on a advantage Shogun could have used, had his gas tank been at 100 percent.

👆 you nailed it in your old post.

Damn. Jones is like a more offensive Anderson Silva with wrestling. I do wonder if Shogun would have found more success with low kicks though. He may have been tentative due to Jones's reach.

And to the guys who want Jones vs Rashad, Rashad said he would never fight Jones. He actually mention that he might move up to HW if Jones beat Shogun.

Oh and poor Crocop. He actually looked good right up until the low kick counter.

Indeed... MMA is such a mentally demanding sport, esp when you're at the championship level.

Never mind. Guess Rashad changed his mind.

F*ck MMA.

No kidding. His 8 1/2" reach advantage was the tipping point in Jones' favor. Remember when was ground-&-pounding Sogun towards the end of the second? He was casually resting his left elbow on his face and there wasn't a damn thing Shogun could do. He was gassing himself simply by squirming.

Even if Shogun was 100% and not tentative, it would still have ended in a similar manner. It might have gone to the 4th or maybe even the 5th, but the impenetrable fortress of Jones' reach would still be there.

Its pretty funny, really; some greenhorn like Jon Jones made an accomplished veteran look like complete garbage.

It could be how the fighters and the game has changed over the years. Like in Football, players are stronger and faster.

Jones did make Shogun look like complete garbage, I was so sure Shogun was going to kick Jones ass.

😂 This certainly makes the LHW rankings annoying since noone can hold on to the belt for more than one fight.

Yeah, I read he has the longest reach of any UFC fighter; however, I'm not sure how true that is. It definitely highlights the argument for same day weigh ins though. No way Jones walks around at 205.

Definitely possible. Jones is tall and strong. Shogun kept reaching under Jones's legs on the ground, but the dude's base is so solid. You need legit wrestling skills for him.

Yep. He's only my age and now has a UFC title. The funny thing is, Shogun did the same thing earlier in his career. He won the Pride MW Tournament at the same age Jones is now. It's poetic in a way to lose to the next phenom.

Yeah. Many people are just now recognizing how athleticism impacts martial arts.

At least Brock did some cool break dancing before his ass kicking.
