It could be how the fighters and the game has changed over the years. Like in Football, players are stronger and faster.

Yep. He's only my age and now has a UFC title. The funny thing is, Shogun did the same thing earlier in his career. He won the Pride MW Tournament at the same age Jones is now. It's poetic in a way to lose to the next phenom
Originally posted by Quiero MotaI don't think anything's been thrown. The champs tried hard &they just lost to the better opponent. By all objective measures? When this fight was announced I took everything into consideration &instantly knew(99%) the outcome. Many said Jones had never fought anyone like Rua, while this is 100% true they weren't thinking about how Rua, even w/all his exp, had never fought anyone like Bones. That type of person simply didn't exist while Rua was becoming the legend he is. Exp isn't everything. It was a great fighter who had been shown to be beatable vs. a guy who makes everybody look bad, a guy whose only negative career point came from beating the other guy up the wrong way.
Well I stand correct. Shogun totally got manhandled by the greenhorn. It reminded me of Velasquez vs Lesnar; one-sided with the champ not pouring his heart-&-soul into it. But in that instance, Velasquez was the favorite and the one with the experience. Shogun is a veteran of the sport, and at 29, still young. By all objective measures, he should have won. Oh well, es nada sucedeAt times, I wonder if the champs sometimes simlpy throw the fight. The Romans use to call it: Lenio vestri sarcina, "Passing on the burden to another". In reference to a champion being tired of being the champion.
