Why all the Guida hate? He destroyed Pettis by exploiting his very obvious weakness. Don't tell me you guys bought the Showtime hype. He was terrible and was content to lay on his back throwing half assed subs that he knew wouldn't work. He only tried to get up ONCE. He's got a lot of training to do before he's truely ufc worthy. Mainly strength training and Wrestling. Plus his game plan was stupid. He did the opposet of what you should do against a wrestling grinder. Once again we see that BJJ isn't all that it was cracked up to be. Tons of fighters drank the bjj kool aid and use it as a base and now they're getting destroyed left and right by pure wrestlers. The kool aid they drank is now giving them heart burn. They keep burpping it up and it tastes like sour grapes. Wrestling is the future and the guard and jj is the past! ahem....sorry, i went into a bit of a biased rant.

Lmao. Take a look at the competition Shields and Chael have been facing compared to Guida, then come talk to me.

Because what he did against Pettis wasn't fighting. He simply exploited the system. Bas Rutten was spot-on with his assessment of the fight.

And as for wrestling vs. BJJ is concerned, it's not like what we're seeing is pure wrestling vs. pure BJJ. We've already seen how that turned out (Dan Severn vs. Royce Gracie). What we have today are wrestlers who learn BJJ and know what to look out for from the guy on the bottom. So then, they become content to lay in that person's guard, defending any submission attempts and throwing punches. So yeah, all wrestlers today in MMA know BJJ, which is why they've been so successful. To act like it's pure wrestling that's making them so successful is false. Kurt Angle isn't going to beat Nogueira if he's in his guard. Sorry.

I think this guy says it better:

Say whatever you want, but I agree 100% with Diaz right here.
Yeah, I kinda touched on a similar subject with the Mousasi/Jardine fight...

There's no question that UFC/Strikeforce have a rule system in place that favors wrestlers and lay 'n pray artists.

Bullshit. If anything the rules highly favor strikers.
Like what? The fact that you can't knee, stomp or soccer kick an attempt of a takedown, thus making the sprawl as the only available tool to avoid a takedown, one who doesn't even punish a failed attempt?
Or the fact that you can't upkick stupid LnP's?
Or maybe the fact that wrestlers LnP because they know that in order to put actually offensive GnP or submissions they would give space, thus allowing his opponent to try somethings like strikes (like upkicks), submissions or sweeps? And since there are no yellow cards or penalties, they can hold on his opponents and stall until the end of the round, knowing that in a vale tudo fight they would have to fight, and if they had to fight they would get his face busted and they would lose the fight.
Yeah, the rules favour so much strikers. That's why Pride was full of wrestlers right? Those guys who would get stomp to death after the first takedown missed attempt, just like in a real life situation. But thanks to the unified rules wrestlers can shoot for a TD like 5 or 6 times a round, until they got one and win the round due to this stupid judging.
There was a reason that in vale tudo fights, only the very best wrestlers, with good GnP, came on top. Not the Guida or Fitch like stupid wrestlers.

I don't know if he "said it better." He's right of course... but he can barely string a sentence together.

This is spot on. To say the rules highly favor strikers is ridiculous. When you can win a "fight" by pushing someone against the cage doing no damage something is wrong.
Something needs to be done though im not sure what..maybe allowing upkicks from guard, or having the referees be more strict about wall and stalling and lay and praying, or the judges not scoring impotent takedowns so highly etc.

Sorry for the mistake but I am not a native english speaker and I don't even look that much for my grammar when I post here anyway.
(I did try to write this one without mistakes though lol)

You did fine, I was talking about the video of Diaz talking. He looks and sounds like it is talking so much mental effort just to speak a cohesive sentence that he is going to have a stroke. 😎
