For all of his muster, he couldn't knock out Silva. He wailed and wailed away, and landed some decent blows, but to no avail. In fact, Silva has never been knocked out in his decade+ career. I think Stann is gonna drop Sonnen, the same way that he did to Chris Leben.

Pretty sure Hendo rocked him.

But didn't knock him out.

I actually saw some decent capoieristas a little bit ago. It was lower level competitions and I haven't kept up with them though. They weren't doing Tekken style Eddie Gordo stuff, but it was kinda cool. Strangely(perhaps not so strangely) enough, the most successful of them used standard grappling and striking with a few crazier things thrown in to mix it up. With a solid base, you can practically get away with anything.

Here's some high-level Capoiera:

Oh, thought that said rocked.

Like, rocked out with his cock out.

For all Silva's muster, he couldn't knock Chael out. He wailed and Wailed and landed a decent blow but to no avail. In fact, Chael has never been knocked out in his decade long career. I think Chael is going out strike and out wrestle Stann just like he did Silva, Okami, Nate Marqu etc. My god....the stupidity.... But yeah, this would be a Gift fight for Sonnon if he didn't have ring rust. But, since he's a better striker, wrestler and his strengths are stann's weaknessess, he still should run through him. Stann does hit like a mother****er though.

Honestly though, it's pretty transparent what the ufc has been doing here with Stann. It's no coincidence that Stann was available the exact day Chael got cleared. They built Stann up far beyond his actual worth. At best a B level fighter with gaping holes in his game. They've made it seem like he's a legit contender and ready for the best. Then enters Chael. A guy who single handedly sold the Silva fight with his shit talk, then proceeded to back it up. Dana likes money. But there's a problem. Dana wants to give him a title shot, but since he's been gone so long he needs a tune up fight as well as a big win over a precieved contender. Enter Stann. A win over stann kills two birds with one stone. Stann's greatest weakness is he can't wrestle for shit and can't defend gnp for shit. He's a chump. If you can get him down, which you can, you can hold him there. Chael is one of the best at that. Mark my words, if Chael dominates him like he should, like he did Nate, or okami........he's getting a title shot.

You're setting yourself up here for an epic fail. Don't jinx Chael, God dammit. uhuh

But he submitted his ass. Sonnen has some good wrestling...for all the good it did him. If he had bothered to study any of Silva's past fights, he would have known that it's practically impossible to G&P Anderson Silva into submission. So then he attempted anyways only to get caught in a triangle armbar. We can sit here and play "What If" all day long, but all that really matters is that Sonnen lost. Remember what Vin Diesel said in The Fast and the Furious; "It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning."? Well, the same thinking can be applied to fighting; it doesn't matter if you win with a one-second knockout or by a controversial decision--winning is winning. Getting that W on your record is what matters.

Silva-1, Sonnen-0

---

As for the Stann fight; I really hope that Sonnes has done his homework, for his sake. I really don't care who wins that one, because I think they're both loud-mouth pricks, but Chael better watch those hands.

If they stand. Fail's getting KTFO. I doubt he'll be dumb enough to stand tho. Another Sonnen wrestlefest.

Davis is out. Tito's in

^That's a shame. I was actually looking forward to Evans vs Davis.

Also, does anyone know why Phil Davis' ringname is "Mr. Wonderful"? What made him copy a pro-wrestler from the 80's?

He used to have a cat w/that name. Cat died, but his friends said the name should live on. Real talk. Saw it on MMA H.E.A.T.

Is that right? Well, he should have come up with another ringname for a couple reasons; for one: "Mr. Wonderful" was already taken (by a clownish fake-wrestler of all people). And a fighter naming himself after a pet cat? Is it just me, or is that kinda fruity? Oh well, none of my business, but I guess "Mr. Wonderful" is better than "Fluffy" or any of the other common cat names.

You shut your God damn mouth about Paul Orndorff. uhuh

Lol kinda sounds like a name he chose right on the spot and decided to go with it.

I meant the guys doing it in an MMA or otherwise full contact environment. These circles don't ever strike me as more than dance offs. Here is one of the fights I know of where the capoierista one and actually used something resembling capoiera.

Oh and Rashad says "I don't think there's anybody who could beat me, so I didn't care who they put in front of me" about his fight with Tito.

and Jon Jones is fighting Rampage.

All main event fights, even non title fights, are going to be 5 rounds now.

War Tito.

How will he defend himself from Rashad's ego though?

That is supposed to be "won."

By having a bigger head (pun intended).

"Tapping out is like taking a plea bargain; you're basically admitting that you have nothing". -Chris Lytle on why he's never submitted.

Lookin' forward to Hardy vs Lytle!

That's cool to say until Aoki gets a hold of one of your limbs.
