Maybe you don't get that he'd proven himself in many people's eyes BY beating Shogun. Maybe they just caught on a lil' quicker than you did.

You, apparently, don't know what overrated means.

He didn't prove it by beating one person.

Didn't prove it to YOU. It's a matter of opinion. That's what YOU don't seem to get. &Shogun wasn't the 1st person Bones brutalized.

Proof is universal, opinion is not.

Based on his actual achievements at the time he didn't prove he was on GSP or AS level, there is nothing to argue. They had beaten more top competition.

Shogun was the first person that mattered.

Still debatable. What Shogun-level threats has GSP beaten or even exist @WW?

What's debatable?

Bj and Hughes.

I'll give you Penn, not Hughes. Shogun is good @standup AND grappling. Hughes standup has never been good. Not really well-rounded.

His wrestling made up for it.

Anyway, he was the WW goat.

Still that's not counting GSPs other top 5 wins like Kos and Fitch.

Not saying he wasn't great. Just saying he's not a Shogun-level threat (BJ was kicking his ass until he gased) &Fitch & Kos aren't either. Quality over quantity.

He was a Shogun level threat, that's how he was the ww goat. Cardio is a part of fighting, and no he wasn't.

And GSP had more of both.

All of them not named Matt Serra or Dan Hardy? 😎

BJ kicked Matt's ass the 1st time they fought & BJ was getting the better of Matt b4 gassing the 2nd time. He did the same to GSP in their 1st fight. GSP had quantity & he'll go down as the GOAT of WW, not Matt. GSP owns him. Matt got him the 1st time because GSP ****ed up. @that point, GSP & Bones had both beaten ONE SLT. MAtt is NOT a SLT. I know cardio is part of fighting. I'm just stating the facts. Matt's cardio (or BJ's lack thereof) saved him from BJ. If he was the better fighter of the 2, he'd not have been vanqished so easily 2/3

Anyway, GSP had beaten more top fighters.

Just accept you are wrong.

I'm not really sure what BJ > Hughs has to do with determining if Matt was a "Shogun level" fighter? There are plenty of guys in LHW that have beaten Shogun... he has loses to Forest and Coleman... and Machida... and most recently Hendo... does that mean that Shogun himself is not a "Shogun level" fighter? 😕

It's not even worth addressing.

The fact is GSP had(s) better wins.

GSP > Shields > Hendo > Shogun

MMAth! 😱

Seriously though, WW is easily the most stacked division in the UFC. If GSP wasn't there to easily decision everyone the war for that belt would be a blood bath. It's too bad the UFC doesn't do Grand Prix tournaments, I would love to see the top ten ww fight for that intern belt.

You guys shut up! Machida never beat Shogun. Judges did. &Shogun lost 2a juiced up Coleman. He simply wasn't himself when he fought Forrest the 1st time. He's avenged both of those in convincing fashion. Hendo didn't really win that fight. BJ's the only SLT GSP's beaten. Everybody else was either pure striker or pure grappler. That's final. 😠 &2 don't equal plenty. BJ & Matt both have more Ls

Anyone else hear the fail when they announced Mir had won by TKO?

Son of a WHORE!

GSP got injured, so Diaz will face Condit.

This is all Diaz's fault. He could've had his ass whooping had he attented the press events a while back.

godDAMNIT!

It sucks. I was looking forward to GSP beating Diaz, would have been the easiest title defense in his career other than Hardy.

Condit will beat Diaz for the interim belt... but I can't see him holding that until GSP is ready. Kos or Finch should get a shot at it and they both should be able to convincingly beat either of those two... which kind of sucks because I don't really want to see GSP beat up Finch or Kos again when he gets back. Condit and Diaz vs GSP are two fights we might never see now.
