Do you mean just UFC or all of MMA?

Fedor Emelianenko is still undefeated so far and at least was considered the greatest fighter in the world. The only reason I say "was" is because he hasn't fought anyone from the top 10 in decent time frame. I'd still pick him over most fighter but it's hard to keep him ranked since he isn't fighting high caliber fighters at the moment.

Some notable undefeated fighters at the moment are:
Lyoto Machida
Rashad Evans
Fedor Emelianenko

As for the top five, it varies depending on the weight class we're talking about. However, these fighters would definitely be in the running for a top 5 pound for pound category.

Georges St. Pierre
Anderson Silva
Dan Henderson
Randy Couture
Quinton Jackson
BJ Penn
Gomi Takanori
Fedor Emelianenko
Hayato Sakurai
Antonio Nogueira
Kid Yamamoto(same as Fedor. Hasn't fought much recently.)
Mirko Filipovic(his spot here is a bit "iffy" as of late.)

That is list just off the top of my head. There may be some I am forgetting, but it's a good start if you're just looking to see who's who. I'll have to numerically rank them later. There's too much to conisder right now.

Tough to go/stay undefeated in MMA.

Sylvia vs Nog

i got Sylvia winning this unfortunately.

I know. I hate to say it but I see Sylvia winning too. 🙁 His huge size advantage will be enough to help him lay and pray on the ground.Nogueira is a better boxer technically speaking, but I think Sylvia will also be able to deal with Nogueira standing up due to his size and his awkward fighting stance. Nogueira probably won't get knocked out, but I doubt he'll knock out Sylvia either. I think it'll be a drawn out fight. I'm not discounting Nogueira as he has a very good chance at winning this, but he didn't look so hot his last fight. He is training with Black House alongside A.Silva, Machida, and Belfort so maybe he'll surprise me. Barring that...

Sylvia via unanimous decision. However, I have my fingers crossed and will be rooting constantly for Nogueira to win.

It looks like Belcher had to pull out of the fight whatever reason. Rob Yundt is replacing him.

Who would you all rank as the top 5 fighters right now?

-AC

just ufc or entire MMA?

Fedor Emelianenko is technically undefeated.

pound 4 pound, here are my top 5

1. Fedor Emelianenko (so what that he hasn't been fighting top competition for a while, his resume is enough for me to rank him #1)

2. Anderson Silva

2. Quinton Rampage Jackson

4. Georges St. Pierre

5. Antonio Rodrigo Minotauro Nogueira

(if Nog loses to Sylvia this Saturday, then he's out of this list, but the guy has proved that he has some of the best boxing and brazilian jiujitsu in all of MMA)

fighters that were close to making top 5 pound 4 pound:

Lyoto Machida (currently undefeated)
Josh Barnett
Paulo Filho (currently undefeated)
Dan Henderson
BJ Penn
Shogun Rua (his last performance was horrible, but apparently he was injured and just got married "no testosterone" 😆 )
Takanori Gomi

Rickson Gracie has been retired as undefeated in MMA. Rumors say that he is trying to make a short comeback.

1. He's a Lay n Pray fighter.
2. He's known as "Poopy Pants"
3. He said in an interview that he had sex with the title belt on...too much info that no one wanted to know
4. He dissed Fedor and avoided a fight with him.
5. Arlovski vs Sylvia III was one of the worst fights in UFC history.

the list goes on

i wouldn't be too surprised though. Sylvia doesn't have the best chin, and Nog has trained with olympic boxers in the past and his currently training with Lil Nog, Machida, Anderson Silva, Belfort, Filho, Barreto and the rest of the Black House camp.

Nog is ready for this.

Amen to that! I just find him an extremely boring fighter. Most of his recent fights ended on decision. I was f*ing happy when Couture broke his ass! He talked a lot of shit before that fight.

he calls fighters like Couture and Fedor "studs" yet he disses them and says that they are not in their league.

i dont mind shit talking, it can make the fights more entertaining, but there are limits and ways that you should shit talk.

I dont mind shit talkers, specially Tito Ortiz but Sylvia just seems fake. He was calling Couture old and whatever and got his ass handed to him.

I thought I missed the fights... turns out I'm two days too early. 🙂

If Lesnar improves a lot... I want him to fight Tim, and smash his head through the damn ring.

I really don't think he is going to get past Mir. If Mir took this fight seriously Lesnar could be in for a rude awakening.

I'd actually be a bit surprised by a knockout from Minotauro. KO's aren't exactly what Nogueira has built his career on.

That said, I hope he wins via tornado kick. 😄

As for Mir and Lesnar. Mir BETTER win. I do not wish to deal with the WWE fanboys should Lesnar win this bout.

Alrighty, call the big 2: going with Mir and Sylvia.

Mir should win...
However...

Lensar
Nog

Sylvia although I hope that I am wrong and Nogueira kills him.
Mir BETTER win.
