Im not defending him. I just think the whole situation with the Cowboys is completly blown out of porporation. As of right now, he has basically done what some other players have done before. It's not first time somebody has been fined for missing one rehab session, and late (not missed) but being late for offensive meeting. I'm not sure if he missed an practice without the injury also.

Botankus had the right quote with Rod Woodson ( a great player), that everybody has been fined and has been late too practices.

I think overall, people can start saying that TO is being like TO once he starts complaing about coaches, contract, owners and not getting enough playing time.

It's just the bloody media who are making a big deal about it. Notice how Branch and Lelie dont get national coverage for missing every practice and training camp, meetings and preseason games?

I agree its being way overhyped.... but I don't think any player, after beign asked why he has missed practice said "I overslept." like it wasn't a problem at all.

He didnt miss practice, he was late for a meeting and missed a rehab session (which maybe was before the meeting).

It's not a good excuse and I have no idea if it was true or not, but in the real world, workers sometimes our late for thier shift.

It would be a much bigger problem if it happened the whole training camp.

that is just it. when TO stood up in front of the media at jerry jones side and said you can count on me he should have known not to step even a fraction out of line. at some point it is his fault for calling all of this attention onto himself. this is a monster he created not anyone else. he loves being the center of attention period.

and lord evo the only people on espn who's opinion i actually listen to is mike golic and mark schlereth. those are the two guys i think have the best insight. neither of them were superstars like horrible ****ing theismann, or irvin. i like tj as well. salisbury, and jaworski are way to much about qbs are gods gift to the world. and by the way both golic and schlereth said to give TO a chance and let him prove himself. it is nobody's fault but his own what he proved himself to be. he is a pompous ass.

i know his hammy is hurt. cool sit down ride the bike and get back as soon as possible. that is what smith and ward are doing. and the reason we don't hear about them in the media is because when hines ward had a contract dispute with the steelers a few years ago he was not in his drive way begging for attention as he did situps. TO has to make a decision, either he is going to be the all important guy he is now and never win a title, or he is going to have to give in and let the team be the most important.

and by the way i said before all of this happened in this thread i think, that TO was going to have a great year because Parcells could handle LT he could handle TO. my how prima donnas have changed in twenty years. TO and Parcells are going to make the playoffs, simply because they the most talented team right now in the NFC East. I just don't see them winning the Super Bowl.

i do not hate TO, i just don't respect him either.

TO has been rehabbing the injury though. The whole big stink about it, according to the media is that TO brought in his own guys to rehab him instead of the team's trainers. Funny, people complained that he was too good for the Cowboys medical team, but wait a minute, isnt the whole ideal behind the US health care system is that if your rich, buy your own medial treament?

On other note, this time, in my opinion the media has made him the centre of attention and not TO himself.

I dont think he has step out of line compared to his early tactics with the Eagles. If all the problems with TO was that he was late for practices, they would still have him.

it was the lead up that makes this worse than it is. this should not be that big of a deal, but with his past behavior what else could he expect.

and yes the idea with privatized health care is that if you can afford it then buy whoever you want. however the NFL is the greatest example of socialism left in the world. you are never suppose to step out and use someone from "outside" the organization. it is one of those unwritten rules it would seem in the NFL.

Yeah, but its not TO's fault for making a big deal. Its the media. So instead of criticizing TO. You should crticise the media.

Screw the unwritten rules. If the guy wants help from outside sources, in America, it should be allowed. He has every right.

It's just funny, if you look at a thread about liberals and there is a discussion about health care, and some people are like, " i hate public health care, its not the american way." But as soon as its somebody like TO who does the same thing that every american does, its wrong, especially in a league thats sooo bloody america.

I think what Buzz is trying to say is if TO wasn't an ass before all this, the Media wouldn't look for a story and overhype it. It is TO's fault, he did all those antics before, and now the Media is expecting it.

I'm not saying the media should be doing this, though.

San Diego

Well, the Rivers era has begun (after two years) and the Seau era has officially ended (for four days). I will say one thing about Phillip from watching him week-in and week-out at NCSU: That dude throws the most dump-off passes I've ever seen. Now whether or not the Amado offense translates to Marty ball in SoCal remains to be seen. Fantasy freaks, look for Gates and LT's rec. #'s to skyrocket (as if they weren't high enough).

Defensively, this is probably the best linebacking core in the league and the secondary is strong. There really isn't a whole lot of weaknesses on this team.

That being said, this team's not as good as KC and Denver.

Prediction: 9-7 (lose tiebreaker by losing to Baltimore on October 1st and sit at home once again).

yeah they just played in the nfl. excuse me if i give their opinions more weight than yours. i mean maybe that is wrong of me, because if i am not mistaken it is your opinion that we should all listen to.. after all you are a seasoned nfl vet, hell you are probably a first ballot hall of famer. you after all went to notre dame on a full scholarship and while you did not win the heisman it is only because you were robbed. dude just shut up. you cannot honestly expect people who played in the nfl to suddenly forget that it is played at 100 mph. where has this happened before and they praise them for it. TO has started practice so lets see, like i said before, if he straightens out or not. and by the way, simply because you call someone fat, or you think they are dumb does not mean that they are more aware, of what the nfl and being a teammate in the nfl, than you are. a lot of that is the persona espn wants him to play for the radio show. listen to him on nfl live, or schlereth. you really should come up with better arguments than "everyone eho disagrees with me is stupd and fat". "TO is da man, he is more of a man than any other man". come on dude, i know you can do better.

i agree with you smas if he wants outside health care he should get it. and yes america can at time be very hippocritical. every country is like that from time to time. we do the best we can with what we have.

the media does hold some of the responsibility for this whole thing. both need each other. the media needs a guy like TO, and TO needs the media. the two love one another.

who the hell else besides golic did i call fat???? yeah deion sanders is a nfl vet, unlike some espn analyst he has actually won a superbowl, so has michael irvin, so excuse me if i feel lke respectin there opinion over peeps who havent even been to one. hell they dont even know what it takes, and the reason i respect irvins opinion more is that he was a WR. you got lineman commentin on the situation....linemen. They dont run as much as WR so i dont expect them to know exactly what the hell they are talkin about. T.O. has already proved he can play through an injury..superbowl, but to risk it in practice, thats a whole nother story.

What the hell people? This is the NFL thread, not the TO soap opera discussion box. Maybe somebody has something interesting to say about, oh, maybe the Chargers or somebody instead of whether or not a wide receiver took a sh*t and whether or not his coach approved of it.

Hahaha...

It's not alright that he took a shit, because he took a shit in private bathroom instead of the team bathroom.

I think we came to the conclusion that TO is the result of mass media coverage thats ridicoulous and unnecessary. Yes, we know he ****ed everything up last year, but its the new season and we have to wait till he does something stupid that warrents a topic in this glorious and well respected NFL thread.

Then we talk about the Chargers....(atleast its better than talking about the Browns).

the chargers are going to be the best team to miss the playoffs this year. i just do not believe in rivers for this year. next year well maybe that changes. i would say probably 9-7 or 8-8.

i dont L.T. is gonna have a great season this year. i think hes gonna be used way too much and now teams know that and are gonna be puttin even more pressure on him than he has already gotten..its gonna be up to phillip rivers IMO

Don't forget...tomorrow we'll preview one of the top dogs in the league. In the meantime...

Seattle
First off, I don't think losing Jerevicious is going to be that big of a blow. He'll be a forgotten name in Cleveland, and the rest of the world will move on. I was also a bit surprised that Bobby Engram was completely ignored in many fantasy drafts while Nate Burleson went like he was the next great ball haulin' stud' of the Earth. (not sure in ours, but I saw in others).

Another thing about the #3 QB. My brother knew David Greene in college and went over to his house (oh, how did he ever afford that 4-bedroom house in Athens????) a few times for pool parties. He almost called him on draft day but figured he was probably in the hot tub with a few chicks and didn't want to be bothered.

Moving on...can you believe Holmgren has been at Seattle longer than he was with Green Bay? Also, I think they made a good acquisition in Julian Peterson and it will help solidify a linebacking corps that already has 3 very good players. Secondary looks strong...Like New England with the "Law" Firm partnership back there with Milloy and Law, they have some sort of French Ritz-Fest going on with exotic names such as Trufant and Babineax. Sometimes when they're defending passes I have to remind myself that I'm watching a football game and not a Napolean Bonaparte movie. Still, Boulware and Herndon are great back there and this looks to be a stronger unit than they are usually given credit for.

And once again, look for most of the yards to come on the left side of the line as they run behind Pork Chop Womack and Hamburger Helper Jones. The Steelers and Chiefs, most of their backs go that way, too. Hint: Most winning teams do.

Prediction: 11-5 (#2 seed in NFC)

First im offended. Tomorrow is for top dogs? how is seattle not a top dog?

They were the #2 overall team last year, The highest scoring team, and the 7th best scoring defense.

Jurevicious will be an issue. He was a great RZ target. A lot of that was due to Jackson and Engram being hurt though. If they are healthy they can cover the slack easy. Burelson will be a nice pick up too. They are also out Stevens for a while now though which lowers their RZ options again. Engram is over looked but it will be hard for him to be real consistant with jackson and burelson. In a 12+ team league starting 3+ WR's Engram deserves a spot on someones roster. Hasselbeck has said before he is his favorite reciever.

They had an overlooked but awesome D last year. THey mastered the bend but dont break philosophy and it was with some young guys and some key guys out with injury. I believe they had both the #1 RZ offense and D.

Now when you make your predicitons are you looking at the schedule or just guessing based on the calibur of the team. I dont see how it could ever be possible they lose 5 games this year, unless AZ really puts it all together and takes both games from them. Sure anything is possible but I see another 13-3 type of year for them, and an easy #1 seed. (The NFC East is too hard for a team to finish even 12-4)

haha, I knew you'd say that. How can you call a smelly saltwater bird more of a top dog than Chief Joseph Edwards, Running Bull Johnson, and Geronimo Gonzalez?
