I'm sorry that this isn't about Big Boy Vick, but I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything about Vanderjerk's status? I mean, to go from the NFL record holder for accuracy to drunken comments at the Pro Bowl to shanked field goal in the playoffs to getting booted out of Parcell's dog house...that's a helluva spiral, but even though he's not listed on nfl.com as a player, I find it hard to believe that he's going to let anyone Norwood him out of the league.

I know no one cares about the guy, but the thought crossed my mind over the weekend.

I'm pretty sure he doesnt really care if he plays or not. He's 35 or so, and made alot of money, so I'm thinking he might be back.

He isnt an bad kicker and they're always will be teams looking for an kicker.

Forumcrew, I meant the American Football League in the 60's, which joined into the NFL shortly after.

The new league wont do anything if the owners start throwing money around. It happened with UFL, and the AFL so I dont think they will continue the same pattern. They wont get anybody from the NFL with just money.

Best case scenario, the UFL becames an organized minor-league system for the NFL where no one has to play in soccer stadiums in front of people yodeling their national anthem after every first down.

I doubt Cuban's league will work. The USFL tried, but didn't last long. Vince McMahon tried wilh the XFL and failed. Marc Cuban is good for the NBA, Trying to take on the NFL, is a story he may not win. Hopefully he can make The Mavs a contender.

The thing is that teams in the NFL are soo ****ing huge in terms of players, that an developing league wouldnt make any sense.

It's not like baseketball where they'res only 11-12 players on a team and an developing league would actually benefit teams with players that have huge potential but extremely raw. With the draft only being 2 rounds, they could easily do that because they're isnt an massive amount of players in the league.

NHL, MLB the minor league system works because they're drafted so bloody young from high school. Also, baseball and hockey draftee's tend to need minor leagues to develop skills that only playing will help. It's less about phsyical attributes.

NFL on the other hand, all players are drafted after college and tend to be NFL ready to atleast play games and contribute somewhat. Also, theres 7 rounds so teams rarely need to have projects because they can always draft more players next year.
An developing league, or minor league wouldnt work for NFL. They'res too many players and alot of those rookies and non draftees are very valuable to teams as backups and special teams players, and practice squads to help plan for the upcoming weekend to the point where coaches wouldnt want those guys off to another team in an different league where they can get injured. Unlike baseball, hockey and basketball, football players have to be at practices to learn about the teams theyre playing and to learn plays.

Doesnt help that the minor league teams of the new league have to be owned by NFL teams.

Well, I agree with Smas, because there are very few players that make a NFL team from NFLE. Maybe they could move it to Mongolia or Los Angeles to try to get a few more fans.

The other day I was sitting in a boring meeting and was thinking about it, and I kept picturing both returners running into one another at midfield. They both fumble, and now you have two balls bouncing around. One team scoops up both of the balls and race both of them towards the end zone. Two TD's in one play. Now that would be mad chaos!

Why dont we just enact that they have to hit each other when the running ball back. Kinda of like the Simpson's cooking pot standoff, or those stumpy head dino's.

Also, I think that the only place you can pass the ball is through the middle where Roy Williams and Sean Taylor (doesnt matter what team is on defense) is there to "recieve" them.

Also, every endzone has an crowd of people like the LSU game and you have to get through to score an TD...but instead of just being drunk, they're DRUNK WITH BATS

And maybe, just maybe, Tank Johnson can shoot his 300 guns over the players head like WW2 training, and Vick gets to sick dogs on people when they break out from the line of scrimmage. Kinda of like an prison break.

Well, Kurt Warner came from NFLE to the NFL and won a Super Bowl, you know... and I think that with time possibly the NFLE will grow and grow until it becomes a big league... as you know, the NFL started wih a only few teams as well.
