Well, the Pats have the longes winning streak ever in the history of the NFL. They have the a better team this year than last year, and that team won the superbowl. Homefield advantage is useful to have, but fans alone isnt going to win the game. And the Steelers did beat them, but, does that mean they will beat them again?
Tom Brady and an offense that has been together for a couple of years,(and have done something with it), a defense thats somehow is 10 times better in the playoffs and Corey Dillon. Homefield is not the reason that I give the edge to the Steelers because well, they didnt do much with that homefield advantage when they played the Jets.
And remember if it goes the last minute with the Pats, thier kicker wont miss twice.

exactly, thats why the steelers are not in the same catagory as the patriots as being a great team. The patriots have a better team this year than last year somehow and they are an experienced superbowl team.Home field adavantage against the pats means nothing if you dont execute on the field and the steelers did not do a very good job of it against the jets who SHOULD have lost to the chargers.the steelers did a HORRIBLE job of executing against the jets and would have lost if their kicker was a good one like the patriots have with their kicker.

if they play as lousy against the patriots like they did against the jets,it will be a long day for them and they will not go anywhere.Ben Rothlesberger has to play MUCH MUCH better than he did against the patriots than he did against the jets to win that game.I figured right in that game that the steelers would just barely squeak by the jets because rookie quarterbacks usually show that they are rookies in playoff games because the playoffs your playing the best of the best and you got to take it to a whole new level than what your used to at the regular season.the playoffs they are moving in much faster motion than the regular season and a rookie quarterback is not used to that.that was a regular season game when they beat them,THIS is the playoffs. The patriots are the champs until someone proves otherwise. The steelers are going to have a monumental task ahead of them trying to keep pace with the patriots in that game. The jets took the pittsburgh crowd out of the game and almost won that game and should have won.they only lost because of two missed field goals.Dont expect the field goal kicker of the patriots to choke like brian did of the jets because he is one of the best in the leauge.you dont think the patriots can take the crowd out of the game in pittsburgh? you got another thing coming to ya.Just because they beat them in the regular season does not mean they are the better team. 🙄

and if the patriots play as bad as they did vs the dolphins then the 49's could beat them.. talking about the jets game doesnt have crap to do with it.. the jets are a good team and the bottom line is pitt still won.. NE is a great team and so is PITT people keep saying vinatari wont miss the field goal a field goal might not even matter.. and Vanderject (Colts) missed a field goal 1st game of the year that could have given the colts home field advantage and he is the best kicker in history.. so anyone can miss.. it should be a great physical game and i dont think anyone is a favorite

True, i dont think any if the favourite. But i feel that people are jumping on the Steelers bandwagon because they're the most popular team right now. I think it will come down to who has the better QB. Big Ben who was invisible and against the Jets, or Tom Brady who has won 2 superbowl MVP's and hasnt lost a single playoff game. I'd give the edge to Tom Brady just a wee bit.

yea brady is definantly the better QB right now and he hasnt lost a playoff game but big ben hasnt lost a game period this will be great for him to win this one

Actually, most people aren't on the bandwagon. Most people I know personally think the Steelers have no chance.

And my point was not to talk about sportscasting. Your personal opinion (along with everyone's) should be valued, but you keep stating that BECAUSE they played so poorly against the Jets (if you want to consider 190 yards rushing and holding the Jets offense to 3 points "poorly"😉 then they have no shot. Things change in the NFL from week to week, as you know.

But, if I were a fan of neither team I would give the edge to the Patriots for different reasons, but I would not bet the farm on it by any stretch of the imagination.

What the patriots did during the regular season against the dolphins doesnt mean squat now its how the teams are playing right now going into the playoffs now is what matters.the steelers dont look good right now the way they are playing, especially Rothlesberger because he is playing like the rookie he is now.He must take his game to a whole new level against the patriots if him and the steelers expect to win that game.If he plays against the patriots like he did against the jets, its going to be a very long afternoon for the steelers.I just dont see a rookie qurterback in within just one week turning it around and having a miraculous game against the superbowl champion patriots.Right now the steelers are a good team, but they are not great like The patriots are.Unless they beat the patriots in a playoff game, then they are not in the same league as they are.Yeah I myself dont think it will come down to a field goal. The way Rothlesberger played against the jets, like I said,I cant see him having a miracoulous turn around in just one week as a rookie quarterback and beating the patriots with a seasoned veteran team like the patriots who have a great quarterback in Tom Brady.Again I am a steelers fan and would like to see them go and win the whole thing but right now they dont look like they are in the same class with the patriots.Barring a Tom Brady injury in that game,I dont see the steelers going anywhere in this game but will be more than happy if I am proved wrong. 🙂

True, NFL changes weekly. The Steelers did play poorly. They almost lost the game against a team whose offense couldnt play shit. Instead of going into OT, it should of been blown out.

parker no he doesnt.. yea he cant make a lot of mistakes but he beat them with only 2 TD's the first time thye are a defensive and a running team Ben doesnt need 300 yards and 4 TD's he needs to only pass the ball about 18-20 times be consistent and thats all they want from him.. STOP talking about the jets game especialyl when your gonna say the miami game didnt count.. the jets game doesnt mean anything if anything its gonna make Ben calm down and concentrate on a simpler game this time

what?? of course it counts because that was a playoff game. The dolphin game was a regular season game. The playoffs are when teams turn it up a notch and if ben does not take it to the next level like Brady has,and doesnt complete most his passes, that team wont go anyhwere.

they are also extremely lucky that the jets kicker missed those field goals otherwise the steelers dont make it this far.and the steelers beat a team that should not have gone that far as well.the chargers had the jets on their tails, they could not stop their offense,if marty the moron schottenheimer has them going for the touchdown instead of being conservative and going for the field goal, the chargers get the touchdown and win it all.again if its a close game like last weeks game was, dont expect the fiedl goal kicker of the patriots to choke like brien did of the jets.He is one of the best.again forum crew, the steelers are just a good team right now, till they beat the patriots this week, they are not a great team.

slow down and type better next time please..

i dont even think you read half of what people write your arguments have no merit behind them..

the jets game matters because it was playoffs but the steelers crushing NE once and the dolphins doing it doesnt matter becasue it was regular season.. The Jets did deserve to be there because they won and thats all that matters..

yes the steelers have a lot to prove yes the patriots are an amazing team especially in the playoffs yes Adam venatari is a very good clutch kicker. But yes the steelers are a GREAT team this year, and NO ben does not need to complete a lot of passes, if they are in a throwing game the steelers will not win they need the run and their D to win and they need Ben to make some passes not a lot and just stay calm and play smart and if they do that they can keep up with the patriots but it will be a big challenge for them regardless...

please dont bring up the luck of the steelers or jets or the past games again the argument is dead especially since you have not said anything new since you first said it.. its gonna be a hard fought game and the steelers have to play their best to win

next discussion please

I feel that the Steelers and Pats are generally thes same team. I just feel that Brady will be better.

Amen to that. We might as well be talking about an 1983 Raiders game for that matter.
My point? The Steelers/Jets game is in the past and it's time to move on. The only time it should be reflected on is by tuning into an NFL Films Game of the Week presentation of it, like the one that was on last night on the NFL Network. That was classic.

Thats funny because I dont think its YOU thats listening here because there is plenty of merit behind them. Yes the jets game DOES matter because its the playoffs, lose and your out.the dolphins crushing new england ONCE and THE STEELERS once as well DOESNT matter because it was a regular season game and they were not eliminated when they lost those games. If the steelers play anything like they did last week,it wont even be a close game.I have been saying all along that they need to play much better next week than they did last week and take it to an entire new levelCoach Cowher said that as well. because if they dont, they will lose.Rothlesberger is not in the same class as Brady is yet because he has not accomplished as much so they are not near as good a team as the patriots are right now and wont be till they beat them in the playoffs. Is ANY of this getting through to you? 🙄

Ben NEEDS to complete much more passes against the patriots than he did last week for them to have a chance to win.the steelers offense only generated two field goals against the jets. That wont get it done against the patriots. They will need to score touchdowns to beat them.As that other poster said, the jets were not that good a team, they were a good team but not a great team.Until the steelers beat a great team in the playoffs like the patriots, they cannot be considered a great team yet. 🙄 the steelers scored their two touchdowns one on defense another on a kickoff return. You cant expext them to get lucky like that against the patriots.Look what The pats did to an experinced Peyton Manning. You think Rothesberger is going to do much better? he has to for them to have a chance to win and thats asking an awful lot from a rookie quarterback to play a great game against them which is what they need to do to beat the patriots. He has to do much better than complete 4 out of 16 passes in the first half which is what I believe he did last week and thats asking awful lot against the patriots defense who harrassed an experinced peyton manning.

plain and simple, the steelers are not a great team yet like the patiots because they have not accomplished what the patriots have which is make it to superbowl in the last couple of years.I dont why that is so hard to understand

i understand what you say.. but you are saying that the patriots are great for their past and that the 16-1 steelersa can not be great until they beat the patriots thats just not true.. they might not win but they are still a great team.. and you said they scored a TD on special teams and defense and they cant get that lucky vs NE got news thats not luck they have very good special teams and D and thats how they won all year.. yes ben is not anywhere nere as good as brady no one ever said he was.. but he doesnt have to be NE can win with a pass offense steelers can not that is not their game plan their D and special teams have to be good Ben doesnt have to be great because they do not rely heavily on the passing game.. yes he needs to complete a higher percentage of his passes but he still doesnt need to throw a lot.. and your argument about almost losing to the jets is worse then losing to the dolphins is just well silly a game is a game the only thing that matters about the jets game is that the jets lost and now that game is down any given sunday anything can happen and its a new day the only thing that matters is that game at hand

by the way i never said you didnt listen i said you didnt read everything people right.. which you may have proved that to be true.. this is a discusion so you shouldnt tell people to listen anyway.. its just you were throwing out some random reasons about things... everyone knows the patriots are the team to beat because they are defending champions you dont need to keep reiterating this or that the steelers need to play good and no one wants to here you bring up the jets again.. im done talking to you unless its about something new..

ok you guys know the over/under game? ill give a stat you say if they will be over under the mark

The Bus 100 yards rushing
Big Ben 0 turnovers
Brady 3 TD passes
Vinaterri 1 game winning field goal (cant really be over so under/even)
Pitt/NE 30 total points
Atlanta 200 total yards on the ground
Philly 30 points
McNab 350 passing yards
Eagles 4 consecutive NFC championship failures
Brett Farve 1 more season

Yeah. It will be qood game.
1) Under (just because of Duce and Bus running, i think they will get 100 combined)
2) Over (i think Ben will have a turnover or so)
3) Under (i think he will get a 1-2 but not three, i cant see the game that high scoring
4) Yes
5) Under (Not even Colts-Pats matchup was over 30 points, that included best off and worst def)
6)Over
7)Under (they both play very good defense also)
8)Under
9) I hope ( cowboys fan)
10) He will play again

1) if he starts, over
2) over
3) under
4) no
5) under
6) under
7) under
8) under
9) nope
10) i hope so

what about these for over/under:

Dillion 100 yrds rushing
total of 4 punts in NE vs PITT
Ben 200 yrds passing
Vick 200 yrds passing
Westbrook 150 yrds from scrimmage

i started it but forget to do it myself ill add yours to the end

1. over
2. under or maybe 1
3. under
4. under
5. over (17-14 or 20-13 kind of score)
6. over (vick dunn and ducket they gotta)
7. under i hope
8. under i meant to do more liek 250 which i think he will do
9. over which means atleast 5 thats right im callin a loss for next year too!
10. OVER! please

new ones

11. under barely
12. over (its gonna be a physical pound it out game in freezing weather not a big play type game gonna be a hard battel for field position)
13. under (he doesnt need to throw that much but if hes over they win)
14. under (they will be run heavy and he will take off when he drops back to pass but hes gonna need 150ish to keep them honest on the run)
15. under (this and getting to mcnabb are key for atl so i hope they shut him down

your argument about almost losing to the jets is worse then losing to the dolphins is just well silly

the only thing I am going to comment on here is this part because no it is NOT silly because great teams like the patriots are going to turn it up a notch in the playoffs than a regular season game.Great teams like the patriots tend to have a let down against a weaker opponet like the dolphins during the regular season because they know they can play next week what a team does against another team during the regular season means nothing, its what they do in the playoffs that matters since more is at stake since its a win or go home situation.so its not silly at all. 🙄

mcnabb today was talking about how vick is gonna have trouble on a slick field because he is a running qb and a qb like himself who can stay in the pocket and throw will be better... i think a lot of people forget vick also has an amazing arm
