In think the Patriots will blow out the Giants.

The Redskins have officially fired Greg Williams, and Al Saunders and hired Jim Zorn as the new offensive coordinator while promoting Greg Blache internally to lead the defense. All of this plus Gibbs leaving and Fossil being the front runner looks like Snyder wants a new look to his staff and unlike his past is shying away from all the high profile guys.

I can understand Al Saunders.

But why Williams? I thought he did extremely well for the Redskins and was one of the main reasons why the Redskins made the playoffs. Very curious.

the players also love williams as does the fan base. the vast majority of my buddies around here are skins fans, they are not happy about this.

Yeah, I figured that.

Al Saunders got paid alot of money to produce and his very complicated scheme obviously didnt work well with the personalle.

Williams, outside of the Pats game, they did extremely well. Well, I assume Williams will get a ton of job offers.

im sure the Pats will win, considering they cheat 😛

sorry, i had to jump on the topical bandwagon.

The Pats are a very good team, with an exceptional offense. I guess its true, the best defense is a good offense.

Not in playoff football.

It's a well known fact that defense is the most important thing to have in the playoffs.

well, yeah, the best offense is a good defense 😛

Either one is a bit misleading. Nearly any team that has won a SB has had a good offense AND defense. One is usually better than the other, but the cliche quote reprinted a few times above me tends to imply that one is ok and can carry the other.

True.

But you just need a compentent offense, not a great offense.

Look at most SB winners, they generally have a good to great defense and a offense that can move the ball but how many times have we've seen a great offense fail in the playoffs.

Just this year, the Cowboys, the Colts and the Packers lost in the playoffs because their offense wasnt what it was in the regular season.

In a funny sense, the Colts won last year based off thier defense while the offense was just OK, but when thier offense was amazing in other years, they always lost. The Pats are probably the only team in awhile that have the best offseason in the regular season who are going to the Superbowl. Last year was the same. The Saints have arguebly the best offense in the league, lost in the playoffs because of thier lack of defense.

So no, the best offense is the best defense does not apply to the playoffs. I think it should go the best defensive team in the playoffs (not regular season) equals out best offenses easily and all you need is a competent offfense that doesnt turn over the ball. I know this is obvious but how the hell does Rex Grossman go the SB, while Brady doesnt? Or Dilfer winning it?

There is a reason why the top pass yardage leader in regular season never wins the Superbowl. (Brady could be the first in a very long time)

Just wondering.

If you had the choice of drafting Joe Flacco or Brian Brohm, which would you choose? I'm more inclined to go for Brohm, but alot of people think Flacco's better.

After watching the Senior Bowl yesterday, neither of them, in fact none of the QBs there really stood out.

matt ryan is the top QB prospect at this point.

Well I hope he has a good combine.

This year is the worst in a while for QB prospects, seeing as how Matt Ryan is the top prospect and he really isn't that good. But because he's 6'5 and semi mobile, that'll put him over the other two 6'3 semi mobile QB's.

There is only 3 "can't miss" players in this years draft, McFadden, Ellis and Dorsey.

I'm hearing rumors that Dallas might trade up to get McFadden. Anybody else hear about this?

yeah that might change this year since they seem to be a team of destination. They'll probably watch film and remember the mistakes they made from the previous meeting and correct those so yeah it wouldnt be surprising if this one was a blowout.dont think it will be but I wont be surprised if the patriots do.the patriots have a good coaching staff.Belecheck is over rated and not that good a coach,he's just good players with good leadership skills and a good coaching staff to make him look good.

I havnt heared of this either.

They shouldnt do it though. It would of been great to get McFadden if the Browns were the typical Browns but they definitly dont need McFadden. If they do get him, well, cool but I rather have them get some WR depth because Glenn and TO are getting up there in age.

Also, maybe some help in the secondary for the FS position (if they dont resign Hamlin and if hopefully get a top prospect for CB position because Reeves isnt cutting it as a second CB when Henry goes down)

Next up for all these players is the combine on Feb 23. Why in the world would Dallas get rid of Jones and Barber? Isn't Jerry Jones happy with them?

Jerry Jones wouldn't get rid of both of them but I could see Julius Jones getting let go.

Why, I thought Dallas was all that. Why make a change or two at the tailback position? Why exactly isn't Jones happy with his one or both running backs?

Also I just love how Tom Brady's non injured ankle is making all this news. With the superbowl just six days away, do people really actually think that Brady is all this hurt?
