Flash almost nevers moves at the speed of light or faster for that matter.
This would cause great havoc in the atmosphere (this is why he moves only at speeds nearer to sound speed). So the statement were DS moves similar to flash in short spurts is correct.

The speed force is what prevents the Flash from causing damage to the atmosphere when he moves at c. He has more then once moved at multitudes of c, in fact on CBR someone calculated the speed he would need for his bomb evac feat and it was something ridiculous like a million times the speed of light.

Actually yes they can survive, as Guardian and Shaman survived a nuke. Plus there are even multiple characters on the team even stronger than them. Check the respect thread. Also some members are so durable none of that stuff would even happen to them, ie. Puck, Radius or Diamond Lil.
Plus Guardian and Sasquatch have victories over Wolverine

Alpha Flight has some of the smartest people in the Marvel universe, plus they have members that can cause nuclear explosions.
