You don't make any plot-changing choices, you have no control over how the party interacts, you don't customize anything about your character beyond appearance. You're just along for the ride, pretty much.

The lack of towns does not bother me in any way. I don't think it detracts from the game. And not having to run from shop to shop to get what I need is certainly a plus, I'd say. Being able to sell and buy stuff at any save point is very nice.
Has anyone reached Chapter 11, btw? I've heard that it's as long as the rest of the game before it put together.
I just popped open the strategy guide and turned to the section for chapter 11. It was 22 pages long. To put that in perspective, the sections for the other earlier chapters range from 2 - 4 pages long. So it does seem to be about the equivalent of 6 or 7 prior chapters.
