I never said that I ruled it out as a positive thing. I said that I've never seen it done nearly as well as is claimed it can be done. Saying you can play it through with friends isn't necessarily a plus for me, either.

Also, yes, singular exceptions can happen. It certainly can work that way. And GW is just as linear, anyway. You don't make any plot-changing choices, you have no control over how the party interacts, you don't customize anything about your character beyond appearance. You're just along for the ride, pretty much.

The lack of towns does not bother me in any way. I don't think it detracts from the game. And not having to run from shop to shop to get what I need is certainly a plus, I'd say. Being able to sell and buy stuff at any save point is very nice.

Has anyone reached Chapter 11, btw? I've heard that it's as long as the rest of the game before it put together.

I just popped open the strategy guide and turned to the section for chapter 11. It was 22 pages long. To put that in perspective, the sections for the other earlier chapters range from 2 - 4 pages long. So it does seem to be about the equivalent of 6 or 7 prior chapters.

jeez JRPG and all FF suck. Only weaboos and gooks give this game such praise.

Cool story bro.

Now move along.

Just reached Chapter 11. Looking forward to actually exploring now.

Watch out for the nasties. But for shit and giggles look for the biggest monster you can find and fight it 131

BTW if you need some grinding/cistarium tips just lemme know

Ok.

And this game has been getting 8 - 8.5 reviews. Gamerankings (average of all game review sites) gave the 360 version an 8.2 and an 8.5 for the PS3...wonder what's up. By the way not bad. It's above freaking 8. No, shut up.

Though I wonder why it's higher on the PS3. Meh, PS3 fanboys probably bribed them lol.

Because it is the definitive version of the game. However I don't think it was worth rating it higher as minimum as it is

Chapter 12 is made of WIN

OH YES!!!!!!

*Jumps around like the silly fanboy he is getting that epic moment in every ff*

because the graphics (both in game and cutscenes) look better on PS3, and it runs at a higher resolution

360: 1024x576
PS3: 720p natively (videos @ 1080p)

it doesn't warrant that much of a difference in score to be honest, it still looks great on 360... but if you take that one of the main criticism for the game is that it's mostly a tech demo for Crystal Tools and how amazing it can look, while leaving the actual game on second priority, I understand the different rating 😬

Dammit! After my second day playing this game, I had two disturbing nightmares dealing with L'Cie. How is it possible to get a nightmare from a FF game?

Decided to go ahead and buy the damn thing. The beginning was a little boring, got a little better after the Anima battle. Not too interested in the characters just yet.

They will grow on you. Its easy to label them as Hope: Annoying angsty teen, Snow: Moronic loser with hero complex, Lightning: Royal *****, Vanille: Cliche Happy-go-lucky sexually charged char with horrible voice actress etc.

I hate Snow, can't stand him

That's way I love Lightning, and I actually cheer whenever she punches him 😄

She did earn my respect when she ***** smacked him.

All the characters are passable, but so far none really stand out to me. Don't feel a connection to them like I do with the characters in the great FF games. And I'm about to start chapter 12 now, so I imagine that if I don't feel that way yet, I probably won't.

The game actually reminds me a bit of VIII. The story isn't particularly coherent or well told. There is no villain, which hurts the story immensely. It's not very engaging, and the characters have yet to undergo any meaningful change. They're all still very one dimensional and any changes they've had are trivial. The exception being Sahz, who is by far the best character in the game.

So far this game is in the middle of the pack as far as FF games go. And unless something changes radically by the end of the game, that's probably where it will stay.

Not even Sazh and the Frocobo? =(

Like I said, he's the best character in the game, by far. The most nuanced and well developed, from a pure storytelling sense. But even he isn't among the greats in the series, thus far.

Finally the game gets interesting. Character's as well. That sure got a load off my mind. Still love the FF9 characters more, especially cause i didn't have to hear their voices.

Vanille pisses me the **** off.

As for the battle system, it was really easy to get use to and pretty damn interesting. Now this damn clock needs to let me out of work so I can go play.

Eh, I think the game has some great moments, like Hope and Snows reaction to Fang checking Vanille's brand.

Speaking of, Fang=awesome.
