Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Jesus died.

He was scourged. The Roman way of doing this was with a Cat o' nine tails. This had several strips of leather with bits of bone, nails, and other sharp objects braided in. One lash would produce several rows of nasty wounds. It was customary to give 40 lashes.

In this weakened and traumatized state, He was nailed to the cross. Again the Roman method was generally to nail the victim to the crossbeam and then lift them on to the post that was already standing. A nail would have been driven into each palm and each wrist, with a single nail anchoring both feet to a platform. The arms were basically pulled from their sockets during all this. Breathing becomes extremely difficult as you can only breath in while standing and out while squatting. That's why the traditional method of speeding death was to break the legs.

When they went to break Jesus legs, they noticed that he was already dead. Now, even if he had just "slipped into a coma", that would mean that he could no longer consciously position himself to breath. Asphyxiation would have already started. To top it off the Romans, surprised that he was already gone, made sure that he was dead by stabbing him in the side with a spear. The account says that blood and water came out. That's consistent with separation of blood into serum and coagulate that occurs after a very stressful death.

Nope, Jesus definitely died there. He was resurrected of course. If you trust the apostles and the gospels at all that's plain to see.

If Jesus had any children, it would have been before his crucifixion.

Oh, I'm not arguing that crucifixition was always fatal (although if left hanging long enough death would always be the end result.).

What I'm saying is that based on what we know of crucifixion in general and Jesus's crucifixion in particular - that He definitely died. The Romans knew what they were doing.

I won't say that Jesus didn't have kids, but if such descendants of such existed they would have no special influence with God, they would be just like anyone else. Jesus was divine, and he pointed out the divinity in all of us.
