Meh... I found the roster sub-par as well. There are elements of the game that I've really been waiting for (level editor, co-op adventure, screenshots at any time, etc.), but there's a point where I think too much was wasted on extra stuff, and not enough on the core of the game. Things like characters. I'm slightly dissapointed at 35 characters, but I'm more dissapointed at the clones... and the lack of Krystal, Mewtwo, a new moveset for Ganondorf. The first was just blind hope, but the last two I was really betting on. Ugh.

And people shouldn't criticize the complaints... this all DID come off as sub-par to most, and you're going to the thread for the game, that's been upheld for ever by expectant fans. The casual gamer and the odd fan is probably really happy with how things turned out, but with what Sakurai said earlier about the number of characters and their moves, it really shouldn't be a surprise that people in THIS THREAD are a little PO'd about it.

Exactly.

The game has more stuff to do than pretty much every game outside of the Orange Box, but because a couple fanboy dream characters didnt make it now the game is a disappoinment.

Ill give people Ridley, but any other character you name, I dont think they deserved to be in the game.

So I'm a fanboy am I? I love it when people make such uninformed assumptions about me. 😂

Even if Ridley had been playable in Brawl, that would've made only 36 characters in the game's roster. Still disappointing.

SSB 64 had 12 characters. Melee had 25. Brawl has 35...
Not much of a gap from the last game, and that's my point.

And like the graphics, the gameplay itself has not improved as much over its predecessor as Melee was to the N64 SSB. To a certain degree, yes, Brawl is better than Melee, but not a massive improvement or a revolutionary take on the genre like Melee was for its time.

Indeed...
But they did have the time to fix the clones and all that (unlike with Melee, which was rushed), so there's no excuse.

Honestly, if it wasn't too late for Brawl to have a revolutionary roster (and to have the clones either taken out or given original movesets, which could've been easily done with Ganondorf), I'd be willing to wait another year for the game.

Unlike most people, I have the patience to wait for things. That, and I have other great games (and other stuff) to keep me busy.

Never called you a fanboy, I was talking about all the people complaining, and not just here.

35 Characters is too many, imo. I think it is awesome that they have 35 characters. Of course some are going to be "clones" but they aren't really perfect clones. The moves are usually just a little different, giving the character a different "feel" than the original.

Here, here; to ESB yeah it does sound gay.

Indeed a weird name for the final boss

Update: More info on Assist Trophies

Official unveiling of the Metroid...

I laughed at Tingle's description: "This self-styled fairy is 35 and still single!"

Cool to see Kat & Ana are in.

Jeff's attack looks fun!

Surprised to see something from Kuru Kuru Kururin.

Jill and the Drill Dozer is bound to be painful...

Nintendog! Remember that from way back in the FIRST trailer? 😂

2D Lakitu & Spinies, and good ol' Hammer Bros.

Loved Drill Dozer, it was a fun game and innovative for a GBA game. I wonder if we'll see more. Choice addition. Love the metroid, although it should be sucking on Wario's big head, instead of poor kirby's.

it appears that with no real exciting updates left, my year of being the official update guy has ended.. 😬
