I'm simply accepting the game for what it is: A fun, zany brawler with 35 classic characters from 17 different franchises, a metric ton of content (including a full, evidently epic story mode bringing all those famous characters together, complete with pre-rendered cutscenes), a track list to make the heart melt, some of the coolest battle stages I've ever seen, three different sets of items to collect (trophies, stickers, and CDs), and one of the finest pedigrees today. And for the record on the clones, there are various changes between them. The obvious power and speed differences of course, but many of them also have a completely different set of standard A moves.

Still, it's going to be a great game anyway.

To be fair...Mewtwo isn't out of the game. He's just an assist trophey now

@ everyone who thinks it's oh-so stupid for people to complain about the game/roster: What is your problem? Are we a bunch of selfish scumbags that don't deserve an opinion because we happen to not appreciate Brawl as much as you?
Brawl may be great (other than IMO, its sub-par roster), but to me, it's still a bittersweet presentation. I'm not disappointed about only 35 characters, I'm disappointed at what it is.
Meh... I found the roster sub-par as well. There are elements of the game that I've really been waiting for (level editor, co-op adventure, screenshots at any time, etc.), but there's a point where I think too much was wasted on extra stuff, and not enough on the core of the game. Things like characters. I'm slightly dissapointed at 35 characters, but I'm more dissapointed at the clones... and the lack of Krystal, Mewtwo, a new moveset for Ganondorf. The first was just blind hope, but the last two I was really betting on. Ugh.
And people shouldn't criticize the complaints... this all DID come off as sub-par to most, and you're going to the thread for the game, that's been upheld for ever by expectant fans. The casual gamer and the odd fan is probably really happy with how things turned out, but with what Sakurai said earlier about the number of characters and their moves, it really shouldn't be a surprise that people in THIS THREAD are a little PO'd about it.

Yeah, but still not as great as it could've been. Not by a long shot.

You make a point there, we can all have an opinion, I don't like the roster; at the end of the day like ESB said, Mewtwo is an AT, Ridley is a boss, what is K. rool, I don't think he is recognized at all in Brawl, I agree a few more characters would have been nice, but we can't do anything about it, they have made there decisions and that's how it stays, whether you like it, or like me do not.

🙄
The game has more stuff to do than pretty much every game outside of the Orange Box, but because a couple fanboy dream characters didnt make it now the game is a disappoinment.
Ill give people Ridley, but any other character you name, I dont think they deserved to be in the game.

Still doesn't change the fact that it appears that Nintendo focused exceedingly on the little bells and whistles, but got lazy on the core aspects of the game.
Because 30 unique characters is a disgustingly small number of fighters. 🙄
Especially since everyone will end up only using a handful of favorites anyway.

Well hey if they had said in the beginning, "we're going to make 30 original characters.. and then everyone else will be clones" I probably wouldn't have cared. But when you go on about "special characters" and then have three people with the same damn final smash, that's pathetic.

Okay, sorry, but that just seems stupid to me. You either care about the fact there are clones... or you don't. They never said they would have 35 unique characters.
And when you come up with, design, rig, animate, create sound, sync to sound, debug, and everything else that goes along with making a single character, 35 times, get back to me. Game design is not a walk through Rainbow Gumdrop Park, and somehow I doubt Sakurai's team exactly compares to your typical Final Fantasy staff.
