It seemed to just be implemented as an excuse to not add more characters to the playable roster. 😬 Samurai Goroh for instance would've been an interesting and sensible playable rep for the F-Zero series (instead of having Captain Falcon as the only F-Zero playable), but nope. They made Goroh an AT.
Waste of character potential right there.

As I said, the characters are the most important part. After waiting all this time for the game, it's disappointing beyond words to see Mewtwo taken out, clones still clones (I was shocked by that. Particularly Ganondorf), Metroid and F-Zero getting no additional playable reps, etc.

I like ROB and game and watch, I don't care if Mewtwo is in it or not, the only thing I am really disappointed in is no K. Rool or Ridley, that's all.

Im still excited, all this whining is pretty stupid. I love the lineup, after hearing some of the absurd characters people wanted im so glad they kept it simple.

What flaws? None of us have played the game. The only complaints is because people didnt get their wishes granted with certain characters. The only thing people are looking at is the roster, despite the fact that the content in the game has seemingly doubled.

My complaint isn't the characters. It's the fact that many or just clones such as
Spoiler:
Link and WW Link; Fox and Falco and Wolf; Ness and Lucas; Falcon and Ganondorf; and all but Falcon and Ganondorf share the same Final Smash. Seems lazy to me that they couldn't give at least Ganondorf and Wolf a different move set

The clones and repetitive final smashes can be seen as flaws, yes. You may nto see them as flaws, because it may not bother you, but others might.

I'm simply accepting the game for what it is: A fun, zany brawler with 35 classic characters from 17 different franchises, a metric ton of content (including a full, evidently epic story mode bringing all those famous characters together, complete with pre-rendered cutscenes), a track list to make the heart melt, some of the coolest battle stages I've ever seen, three different sets of items to collect (trophies, stickers, and CDs), and one of the finest pedigrees today.
And for the record on the clones, there are various changes between them. The obvious power and speed differences of course, but many of them also have a completely different set of standard A moves.
