Yes, it would have mattered. As popular a series as Super Smash is, most of everyone would've been like "Screw Super Mario Galaxy. I'm getting Brawl" if both games had been released around the same time. Because they weren't though, Galaxy alone sold a fortune for Nintendo. Brawl will do the same.

No it wouldn't. Maybe that what you would have said but not the majority. Only reason Melee outsold Sunshine was because Sunshine wasn't as good as it could have been. Sunshine had like 6 levels and was basically 64 but with a waterpack. And even then Melee barely outsold Sunshine (6.8 million to 5.91 million). Now we look at Galaxy; a game that surpasses 64 on all levels. Galaxy emerged as the most acclaimed game of 2007 winning both editor and reader's choice awards as the overall game of the year on popular gaming sites going up against games like BioShock, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3, Crysis, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Rock Band, and the Orange Box (Half-Life 2).

Not to mention that preorders for the two games are vastly different. Galaxy had around 2 million preorders worldwide making it the highest preordered game in Nintendo's history. Galaxy would and will whoop Brawl's @$$ in every aspect from sales to overall gameplay.

Well you won't really know until a few months after it comes out. 💃 💃 💃

Its a two button fighting game, its fun as hell, but the gameplay is nowhere near Mario. 🙄

Actually, I would have gotten both regardless.

Nope. The majority would've gone with Brawl.

For that matter, Melee wasn't as good as it could've been either. They could've made an original moveset for Ganondorf and all that, but they didn't.

You're just making excuses as to why Melee out-sold Sunshine. Barely or not, it still out-sold it regardless, fair & square.

And what's wrong with that? The same could be said about Galaxy (that it was basically Super Mario 64, but with a star that allowed you to spin).

Seems Sunshine isn't really as appreciated as it should be. It was a great game too.

When Brawl out-sales every other Wii game on the market, I'm just going to say "I told you so".

Brawl's not like the other Wii games you mentioned, or like the ones from other consoles released so far. It's in a league of its own.

to overall gameplay.

Galaxy's got Mario & Luigi for you to play as.
Brawl on the other hand has Mario, Snake, Donkey Kong, Sonic (oh em gee), Samus, etc. Not to mention, it'll have approx. around 30 stages or so. More than what Galaxy had.
Hell. Brawl even has a create your own stage feature, among other things.

SMG does, in no way, surpass Brawl in terms of overall gameplay.

The updates on the dojo website show enough to know already.

AC sould not be on there at all. 😐

Not to sell Galaxy short, but I can definitely see Smash Bros. Brawl outselling Galaxy, and I can see Nintendo making a larger overall profit from Brawl.

Brawl is a system seller, (not that Nintendo needs help selling systems, but honestly, it's the reason I bought my Wii) and there's been way more anticipation for Brawl than there was for Galaxy. Galaxy may have had more pre-orders (I didn't preorder it, but I didn't have much trouble finding it, either) but that doesn't necessarily mean anything; I haven't preordered Brawl, but I will damn sure have it. And Brawl undeniably has more hype than any other game coming out this year.

In fact, I nominate Brawl for Game of the Year of 2008 on hype alone.

It also has a stage editor, so theres a good starting score.

Yes. 😐

GTA 4 will be the same mundane GTA it has been. Just a newer model.

What the hell can they do that hasn't been done, other than have a create-a-porno feature?

Mario and Sonic are going to duke it out. Snake is in.

And like I said, WAY more hype.

There is more to brawl then just that.

...I didn't exactly see the need for a term paper concerning the matter. ermm

I'm merely pointing out that it has more hype than GTA 4. Way more.

I don't think anyone really cares, I was mealy stating there is more defining features to brawl then Mario, Sonic and Snake.

Yeah. Just two of the most famous and influential characters in video game history.

Who cares, right?

Any particular reason why you posted that again, Neo? ermm

You defeat your own argument.

Brawl is a system seller, precisely. No matter how guaranteed that it will be amazing, the hype is what makes it a system seller, the game is what makes it worth it. Hype almost ALWAYS surpasses quality, even if quality is amazing.

Galaxy, Bioshock, Resident Evil 4 and perhaps Perfect Dark are the only games to ever surpass their hype in my opinion.

Bioshock, Galaxy, true can't say the same for the others.
